I HAVE HUNDREDS OF FORM BUTTONS THAT ARE NOW NOT WORKING due to the KNOWN ISSUE FORM BUG! - AND SO DO A LOT OF OTHER PEOPLE. THAT'S HOURS OF WORK NETOBJECTS! FIX THIS ASAP!!!

I can't even figure out how to get the POST form URL anymore. I'VE ALREADY MADE TOO MANY CHANGES TO UNINSTALL THE UPDATE, ETC.

NETOBJECTS, IF YOU CAN'T FIND A QUICK SOLUTION TO THIS, I'M BILLING YOU MY HOURS CHARGED TO FIX THIS! ($125/hr) - AT LEAST, YOU BETTER REFUND WHAT I PAID FOR THIS UPGRADE OF YOURS THAT IS FILLED WITH PRIORITY ONE BUGS!!

for you. Read your contract: you cannot bill for lost hours of your own

Wondering when this update will be ready. Our Search function is broke too due to this bad Form bug!

Usually if there is a work around, most companies get as many fixes in with a single update as they can. Doing an update for each problem can cause more problems than they fix. For example update for 12 fixes about 7 to 10 things and only messed up 2 or 3 and those have work arounds. An update for a single fix could cause 2 or 3 problems, at that rate a product would be going backwards. It really comes down to, "backup every time you update anything". When I work on a web project, sometimes I have about 30 to 100 backups (not saves but back ups) before I get done. Hundreds of hundreds of saves but a lot of back ups too.

I been doing Web and CD/DVD Authoring sense 2001. I worked with Flash, Director, NOF MX, NOF 7, Xara Web Design and several other media development software and I can tell you that 99% of the time that a crash or bug in someones software was only as painful as my lack of backing up. Building the customers project was my main concern years ago. My main objective is to back up now. Add a new page (backup), try some hashed together HTML, JAV SCRIPT or PHP (back up). Stop for lunch (you guessed it). Take a bio break (bkup). Finish up a page edit so I can republish (man oh man I would back up first).

I back up so much I payed $100 for a 1TRB external hard drive. I even backed up each of my installs and my registry. I also set up two raided 500 gig hard drives for redundancy. If anyone is doing media authoring, they need to change their middle name to Backup. If I go to update anything, I like to make a backup and a backup2 in a different location (ie.. CD/DVD). A restore or rollback is a hot coa coa break and maybe even a pastry break.

I worked for a company once and they (owner and rest of the staff) were out of town for a week. I backed up the server on Friday (without being asked), stayed after work off the clock not being payed to do it. I got a call at like 1:30 AM Saturday night from the owner, "We been hacked by the CHINESE and our last backup was almost a week old". I told him I would see what I could do. I finished up about 3 am. System restore to Friday 12AM and then rollback to my backup. When they woke up the next morning, the websites were all normal and the directories were password protected to prevent hacks. I think he was a happy boss.

Back up when you think about it and back up when you don't think you need to. Will software fail people? Yes! People fail themselves even worse by not backing up. I have gone into a customers place to fix their computer and it take 45 minutes while we chatted because they use a backup program and went into another and have to take the computer with me and bring it back a week later completely reloaded because they do not back up. Windows was not the problem, we know an OS can fail, hardware can fail and power can fail. The hardest fail is when someone does not back up as they work. Be kind to yourself and back up, back up, back up. You can sing that last line if you want. What ever inspires you to. . . . .

This is irrelevant to my issue since many changes were performed before the issue was discovered.

I have been in software and Internet Dev for a combined 22 years. I've been backing up longer than you; But thanks for the input.

I'm a new user who recently bouth Fusion 12. I'ts a nice program to build websites with, but the BUGS are killing me.

Every time I want to publish my website, Fusion keeps crashing. After restart, Fusion says that the recovery was succesfull, but had to delete recent changes. Unfortunately this is not everything, sometimes half my website is delete!! WTF..

Does anyone els experiance these problems?

Yes, ALL THE TIME. It's horrible. And it's sooooo slow. Glad you posted because I've been Very Frustrated too lately.

Whoever is in charge has no concept of QA. You don't send software out with crashing bugs. Just unacceptable! You'd never find Adobe or any other reputable company releasing software like this. If this company really wants to succeed, they need to get serious on the QA.

Yep, me too.

In almost all cases when I've experienced NoF crashing/deleting objects/etc it's due to something I've done. The biggest fault in the beginning was putting objects into NoF from all over my hard drive. Over the years my computer configurations have changed considerably, from number of drives, assignment of drive letters etc. And then there's the times I've moved assets around on my computer.

I learned years ago to ALWAYS copy assets into the NoF site structure before placing them in NoF and that has removed most instability problems for me. It almost always comes down to work flow.

I do all that and it still crashes. Support emailed me privately weeks ago and admitted a bunch of bugs, problems. Just because it doesn't crash for some doesn't meant there aren't bugs. Different users do different things. The app has been stable for years and it should NOT crash that easily for anything that a user normally does. they need to address these issues. That's just standard good QA. Users should not have to figure out "workarounds" so the darn app doesn't crash. thx

Kay, I agree to the comments of Franko which does not mean that NOF has no bugs (as any other software too) but maybe something is not really working with your PC.

I am using NOF since version 7 just for me personally as a hobby. Meanwhile I have probably the largest German "NOF Help Site" and I never - ever crashed with my NOF during my regular use. I do have some 600 pages in several projects and one has approximately 260 pages and has nearly all components of NOF incorporated.

I just wonder why yours is crashing all the time and my not.

I would LOVE TO KNOW and fix it but Support, who even has two copies of my template (450+) pages didn't tell me why. I've been using NO for a few versions myself and it has always crashed though seems to started crashing more in 11.

Just want to be clear. Do you manually copy the files you intend to use to your project assets folder before importing them into a page?

I usually just have the Copy to site's "Assets" folder checked off in the open file dialogue. Do you feel that is not enough?

The point is, why does your NOF12 crash? Can you elaborate a little bit on your own circumstances? Which OS are you using? Which updates have you installed? Is IE9 installed on your system? Does the programme crash on publishing with a new project or only your current project? Did you have problems installing, was there an interruption while installing or deinstalling and reeinstalling? These are just a few ideas.

Does the local publishing work? If yes you can publish the results via FTP-Programm as long as NOF has a problem.

I didn't have a single crash with NOF12 so far. (Win Vista, installed as Administrator)

That's a lot, if you are using frames or have too many pics or word-formats or other no-go it is possible that the project doesn't work anymore...

Exactly!!! I often feel that some people just complain for the sake of generating negative publicity for the software. I mean, nobody and nothing is perfect. If it's a question of getting value for money, we have a good deal with NetO.. Moreover, workarounds for just about any problem can be supplied by experienced users anytime in these forums at no cost at all.

Hi Ray, yes I manually copy the object to the assets folder and I leave the "copy to assets folder" unchecked. The first for me is just good housekeeping (I've been building web sites since the days of Lynx and Grail using vi as a text editor until the first edition of HomeSite came out); the second I stopped when, with previous versions, I noticed NoF would copy a file into the assets folder even if it was still there and rename it, so I ended up with several instances of the same object on the site, each with a _1 or _2 appended.

I have to say I feel the same way. In 90% of cases it's invariably because the person concerned hasn't bothered to actually RTFM or learn to use the program and in 5% of cases I'm sure the persons have an ulterior motiviation, eg they work for a rival company, etc. Creating FUD is one of the most basic marketing tactics in any market and is especially true in the IT area (I know, I spent many years marketing IT with IBM and 3Com, amongst others) and even more true in silly clone valley.

The other 5% are genuine cases, but as you say, Barbara, nothing is perfect, especially in the computer world. You get as close as you can but invariably any piece of software is going to be less than perfect and I do mean any. But I also do really believe there is a concerted effort in this marketplace to do everything possible to discredit NO.

Hi Franko, in this context I wonder why NetO doesn't take affirmative action to improve its image in the market. Some positive PR wouldn't be luxury... There is so much one could do... There is more to image than just give aways in computer magazines.

I have been in software for several decades and I second KayK. Here is why:
1- I fell into the trap of update #1 and I was half lucky (not completely lucky!!!) because I had my entire set of sites saved on my servers
2- Even with all of that saved, restoring everything was a significant amount of work
3- Since it took me a while to detect the bug with the script execution, all the work I had done since update #1 went down the drain; in update 1, there is a data structure change which does not allow to go back using the same data

I believe that many users are too tolerant of bugs and they take it as a challenge to work around buggy software; I for one have enough productive challenges so that I do not need the challenge of becoming an expert at workarounds. My personal practice and that of my employees have been to own up to our shortcoming without turning the table on the customers who actually pay our salaries.

I have recovered from release 1 as I returned to the initial release and I am not going to pull out of NOF this time; but I am not ready to go through that again. I would suggest not to change the subject by focusing on the style of the messenger.
