Re: NetObjects Seepd Issues (Please run test and report back)
Mine said 20% when I started, and said 18% when I finished with the table
test.

Re: NetObjects Seepd Issues (Please run test and report back)
Here's templates of an old site - made in 7.5 - which displays slow text
editing (for me anyway)
See if it does it for anyone else. The textspeed.zip is the original 7.5
site, textspeed10 is the the same site from template into 10, then exported
again.
As I've said before, I don't have any speed problems in 10 - this is just a
minor quirk that appears now and again.

Ken,
In the future, please warn us before you attach big template files.

Re: NetObjects Seepd Issues (Please run test and report back)
Hi Nacy,
I think I have done a bad job of conveying what I was after. I only wanted
people who have the slow formatting issue to run the 2 tests. The reason I
suggest not having setup requirement is that this is to be considered a beta
test for such users.
i.e. You would not stipulate to beta testers how they were to set up
software settings because you are testing for all bugs within the described
area.
After they find bugs you would then ask them for information so you could
try and replicate the issue/bug.
P.S. Don't be sorry for not having devastating performance:-)
Regards
Jeff

Re: NetObjects Seepd Issues (Please run test and report back)
Sorry to all if less than 2mb of attachments slowed your system.
Maybe you need a new service provider :-)
Only kidding, if I want to do that again I'll just add a download link. I'm
sure if it causes problems Website Pro's will remove it.
It's a bit strange though that the same same templates were offered to
NetObjects and no one ever took up the offer.
There IS as bug there, and they know it.

Here's a quick screen grab from Task Manager while I added then deleted some
text from the template files mentioned earlier.

OK - suppose you had been away from your computer for 4 days & you have 100
emails & 100 NG messages to download.
Now - suppose you didn't really care about the thread - but you were delayed
by someone's huge post? I bet you'd be as ticked off as you sound.
NG's are text messages - probably averaging <1K. It's OK to attach a <100k
or so pic to explain something (& I think I'm being generous with 100!) -
but 2MB is simply too much. There are folks on 384 DSL (because they can't
get anything faster where they live - should they move?) & yes, dialup. 35%
of my state can only get dialup or satellite. A 2MB attachment *is* a PITA
to a satellite user & I even won't go into how a dialup user would feel.
So - a simple apology (without the wisecrack) probably would've been more
appropriate. This is a really nice group of very helpful people who help
for free. Don't impose on them!
My (unasked for) <2 cents worth.

That's exactly what I'm doing here - trying to help solve a problem that
Website Pro's would rather ignore.
My apology was sincere, but on the other hand it's my time that is at stake
here as well. I took the time and trouble to root out an old website which I
remembered caused the same problem being discussed.
Maybe I did overlook the fact that <2mb is a slow download for some people
(we haven't exactly been up to speed for long in the UK) but I would have
thought that the majority of people browsing this newsgroup would be website
builders, with at least a reasonable connection speed.
And more importantly, did you download and check the template?
As I mentioned, I do not have a problem with NOF 7.5, 9 or 10 regards speed.
The text issue is another matter which appears sporadically for no reason I
can see. I have several sites built in NOF which do not display this
problem, yet it crops up occasionally. Is it caused by a particular
combination of hardware/software and NOF page peculiarities? I don't know,
as I'm not a software programmer. Certainly the problem was exacerbated in
10 for some users for whatever reason - hence the frequent complaints!
