It is one of those seemingly simple things to fix that NOF carries from
version to version.
Releases are signed off with existing bugs intact.
So many folk lose patience with NOF, not because of lack of functionality
but because you need to perform so many workarounds with existing
functionality, due to persistent flaws.

What is an alternative to NOF that is easy to work with?

Ah, there's the rub. But since we know that WSP reads these posts, it
would be nice if someone would say "we know about this, we're working on
it, and we hope to fix it in the next release."

Thanks, I did try jAlbum but on first look I didn't see that it was
going to help me out too much. But maybe I didn't give it a good enough
chance. What I was hoping for was something that would build the pages
dyamically, so I'm not publishing 500 pages, like I am now. jAlbum
behaves pretty much like NOF's photo gallery component, with the added
issue of trying to incorporate it into an existing NOF layout. I
suppose I could use something like ThumbsPlus to create the thumbnails,
and then write something in PHP that would use one template page to
cycle through the photos in a given folder... but then the only issue is
how to deal with the photo captions. Arggghh.

Hi, Laurence,
JAlbum has a number of different skins and nearly all of them let you write
captions.
You can either put a Jalbum inside an I-frame or, the way I do it, reference
the album and put a link back to your site inside the album. You can see
the BananAlbum skin from JAlbum inside the I-Frame on this page:
