Default Using current date to automatically set News Ticker content

The band site I maintain has a text box in the masterboarder giving
details of the next event the band will be going to. Currently I have
to manually update this box after each event which may involve
formating any new text to fit the box.
I was wonderng if there was any way to automate this update process
using something like the News Ticker (as this would remove the need to
rearrange the text to fit a Text Box and remove the current text
    length restriction).

I am running NOF 11 and supporting band site for free.

Well... there's automate and then there's automate.

You have to insert the info somehow.

Since you're dealing with a static area on the page, instead of trying to shoehorn in varying amounts of text, why not just put a graphic there with a link to a popup or even a full page in the site where you have the freedom to use as much text/graphics as you want.

If you had a database of upcoming events, you could do some automation through scripting.

How about a news ticker that takes it's data from a text file?

Wouldn't it be great if there was only a single browser to worry about!!!
