Default NOF 8 Crashed my computer

Each time I sell an item(s) off my site I have to go in and remove it/them so other customers wont try to buy it/them. This means I have to access NoF 8 many times a month to keep my site up to date. For the past few weeks I have noticed that it is takeing longer and longer to open up and make the changes I need to make and then publish the changes to my site. On 13 Oct I tried to reload NOF 8 on my computer, hoping this would somehow fix the problem, but kept getting a message that the reload failed. On 14 Oct when I tried to open up my site I got message that my hard drive didn't have enough free space to preform the task. I then used windows explorer to go into NOF8 to see if I could clean up what ever was bogging it down. I immediately found what the problem is but I don't know why or how to fix it. For some reason every time, after making changes, when I save and close my site the backup more than doubles in size.
Example: 9/29/2010 the backup was 34.5MB, 9/30/2010 the backup was 74.8MB, 10/11/2010 the backup was 1.99 GB and on 10/14/2010 it is 16.15GB.
I tried to open some of the older (Smaller) backups but they don't have the site style and all of the assets, Pictures, logos, buy buttons, ect, are missing. HOW CAN I FIX THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT COMPLETLY REBUILDING MY 52 PAGE SITE. Is it possible down load my site into a clean version of nof??
Thanks in advance for any help any one can give,
    Jack
P.S. I have been using NOF 8 since 2005. I had to move Nof 8 from my C: drive to my external drive so I can use my computer.

Are you still running it under windows XP?

Do you have the latest updates for the product? http://netobjects.com/html/downloads.html

If you can get your site project open run it through the procedures outlined in these 2 tutorials:

When you import the template use a different name than the original so that you do not over write anything
