SEO - Keywords question RE: Assigning same keywords to all pages.

Hello to all,

You all have been extremely helpful in the recent past so thought I'd bring this question up. I hope I am using the right forum. If not, please excuse me. Not trying to be rude.

I use NOF 11, Windows 7 and have administrator privilege. My question is about using the “Apply meta tags to all pages” option in the “Site” layout when I am attempting to SEO my website.

The way I understand it, if I do that, other than having a unique page title, everything else is the same on every page with respect to all meta tags. Should I use (for example) different keywords and descriptions on each page? If so, since I have already used the “Apply meta tags to all pages” option, can I go into each page in “Site” layout and individually modify (albeit slightly) the keywords and descriptions without those changes being made globally throughout my website?

I hope I am making myself clear. Any feedback you can share would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Some meta tags can be global (applied to all pages), robots, copyright, etc

some meta tags should be local (applied to only 1 page) description, keywords,etc

To create a unique (local) meta you uncheck the unheard from parent and enter your local tag.

The Fusion meta system is a little awkward and confusion. You can always manually enter meta tags from masterborder and layout html insert.

Yes, you should use page-specific keywords. It makes no sense to have
"Chevy" as a keyword when all that's there is Buick. SE's don't like it
either; read Googles few articles on the subject; good material.

You CAN have the same meta tags for every page but it is not advised. Ideally you should have unique tags for each and every page. Set all the home page tags as you require and allow these to populate child pages. Then uncheck the "apply meta tags to all pages" and for each page select the tags you wish to change and have unique - at least make keywords and description different.

Thanks for the feedback. The reason I ask, please go to www.rvfirepoker.com. On the left (in my master border), I have 8 products that I have tried, like how they work and market them. Since they are on my master border, These 8 products appear on every page. So, in the case above listing "Chevy" on every page, would not "Chevy" indeed be shown on every page? If completely understand what you are saying if I had completely unique data on each page, but in this case (I think) the data is on every page, hence my dilema. Thanks...

Well, if it was my site I'd have the home page keywords and description relating to ALL your products and on each child page (e.g.: propane campfire kit) I would specify keywords unique to the content of that page and make the description for that page unique to the propane campfire kit. And repeat the process for all other pages.

Google doesn't care for these things any more. Crucial is only the content.

I once had wrong keywords and description, having duplicated a site. No
matter, the site reached high ranking in the Google index!

Go to the Google Adsense forum. These guys make money from the ranking.
They tell you the same. All the meta tag stuff is useless.

Help! I find 41 keywords in your metas!

Forget keywords in metatags, they are not needed and can damage you if they are too many and not relevant to content.

Have a look in the screenshot at the keywords generated by your content.

Your title is not relevant (should be included in content, top of the page, possibly with H1 tag)

Your description is far too long.

Also I agree with Mike (and others, just in case ), you should define titles and descriptions for each page individually.
