Sounds like a corrupted install.
Uninstall Fusion from the add/remove software option in your windows control panel.
Reboot your computer
Right click on the install exe file and select run as administrator.
set Fusion to run with admin privileges and use the newer JRE as in this tutorial http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=4037

So what made this happen? i have had fusion on this computer for 6 months and this is the first time this happened.
The reasons can be as many as the stars.
New software you installed over wrote a file used by Fusion with one that is not compatible. You updated your virus protection or got new definitions. a computer lock up caused files to be corrupted.
The reasons are too numerous to list.
Doing another clean install is a lot faster then searching for what happened and trying to "fix" it.

so how would i go about downloading a new version?
and where can i find the key code for the one on my this comp so i can match when it gets downloaded.
Your registration number key is located in your system registry. Here is an old thread that tells you how to use regedit to go find it: http://forums.netobjects.com/showthr...650&#post41650
BE CAREFUL in your computers registry. One whoops and you could end up with a door stop instead of a computer.
When you locate your serial number WRITE IT DOWN somewhere you can find it in the future so you do not have to go digging around in your system registry for it again.
You should be able to get another download of the product from asknet customer service. It is easier if you purchased download protection but they may give you another download of the product if you ask them http://asknet-en.custhelp.com/cgi-bi...mwmcF9wYWdlPTE*
You can find your order number and your customer number on the email receipt that they sent you when you purchased the product.
When you get your download. BURN IT TO A CD..... then grab a sharpie marker and WRITE THE SN ON THE CD. Make a duplicate copy of the CD and SN. Store them somewhere safe.
Losing software is like losing money. The only difference is you don't go to jail for making backup copes of your software like you do if you try to make backup copies of your money

You can ask. Since you have your purchase receipt (email) you can give them the info they request in the contact form.
