    Question ECommerce Stock Quantity

I have got my e-commerce page linked to Mals-E and have created the page using the great details prepared by gotFusion here:
    http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=4050
It is all working fine (but not live yet) and just the way I want it. It is all nice and simple.

What I would like is some thoughts on how to display a stock holding quantity advice for each of our club's uniforms sizes. Maybe a key under the price & description like XS - 5, S - 14, M - 12 etc
It would be nice if our Uniforms Officer (who has limited computer skills) could log in and change the stock level advice as needed without my assistance. Even nicer if they could maintain the pricing too.
It looks like a database solution (which I have limited knowledge) or alternatively CushyCMS.
Which way would result in the least tears do you think?
    Happy to dabble in either/or.

Are you using Mal's Free cart? If so, there is no built-in way to track inventory. In fact, I don't think even the premium Mal's does this.

If you were using PayPal directly, when you create the buttons, you can enter an inventory quantity that PayPal will track. But you'd have to bypass Mal's.

Otherwise, the two most commonly quoted approaches are:

1.) Purchase OptionCart, a catalog/cart script that has inventory tracking capabilities. This is one of my Three-Star bookmarks that I've been considering for a while. Just no need for it at this point.

2.) Custom PHP script and database on your site that uses the Mal's callback function to adjust inventory.

This is one of those constantly recurring questions on the Mal's forum, but the above seems to also be the "recurring answer".

Here's a couple of threads, and I'm sure you could find more on the Mal's forum.

Certainly any CMS would allow someone to log in and change a text block or table cell. My current fave is SnippetMaster. Dead simple to implement, and you can specify only certain areas that can be edited. There is a free version with some limitations that works fine for simple editing.

The javascript I used is called Popbox which is a free program from here:

I have written down how I got it to work in NOF. (Let me know if you want a copy of my notes?)

You could start a new topic titled using popbox in Fusion and put your "how it works" notes in that topic so that it will be easier to locate in the future and everyone can benefit from it.

    Mike,
It would be good if there was a "Tips n Tricks" Forum topic here. That way others could contribute their good ideas for all. It might take a bit of the load off you??
I have uploaded a pdf with my notes here
    http://www.mtc.org.au/html/temp1.html
It is only rough and there is probably more effective methods to get the result.
Maybe you could extend your very good Mals-E tutorial with this feature? Enlarging pictures seems to be a subject that keeps re-appearing on this forum. You could do it in your spare time ?? :-)
