Default Essentials crashes on one particular page

I've just taken over a site which has been working fine. Clicking on one particular page in site view NOF essentials crashes. When restarting, NOF says it has discovered 'an unstable file' which it then 'corrects' and all goes OK as long as I avoid the troublesome page, as when I select it for update NOF crashes again.
I am going to try deleting the page and recreating, but does anyone know what NOF means by 'an unstable file' ??
The page in question is our 'Contact Us' page, with a simple list of names + eMail addresses and a link to a map to find us.

    Default exactly the same here

    Hi,
I ran into the same problem. NOF essentials crashes on one particular page. The last thing I did is adding several links on that page. Saved it and the next day I couldn't open that page anymore.
Windows 7, most recent NOF essentials, tried both English and German Version ... didn't fix the problem

    Greetings,
    Andreas

    Default Possible cause

I have since worked with the page without a problem

My troublesome page contained lots of links. I suspect that the crash occurs when my internet connection is down, or browser not loaded, and NOF perhaps checks to see if the link will work. Perhaps it can't handle an error 404 Server not found??

As I say, 'possible cause' not real proof.

Typically, a page crash indicates inserted "rogue" coding such as formating from a paste from MS Word or other document that has formated text.

You can check your pages for inserted formating coding by following the information on this URL: http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=220

Thanks, but how can I check the HTML code when NOF crashes before opening the respective page?

    Andreas

Do you have the site/page online? If so what is the URL of the problem page?

You may have to delete the problem page in page view, make a new page, and recreate the page content to take its place.

You should set your paste default to unformated text to avoid inserting external formating and characters (which cause problems). See this URL for how to set the paste default: http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=4067

    Hi!
Thanks for your fast reply. Unfortunately the problem page is not online. I used a long train trip to add several links to a page with a long list of publications. During the trip I did not have an internet connection thus couldn't publish the page. The next day when I wanted to upload the homepage for the customer, I noticed that NOF crashes ... So there is no sophisticated word etc. formating because I just added plain html links via the menu.

    Greetings,
    Andreas
