Default cleaning out preview & publish files

    Question:

When I follow this clean-up of preview and publish files from my Local
    Publish in:

    http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=4029

Do I also have to do an FTP publish after the Local Publish?

    Thanks!

If you want an exact match of your local publish site you need to log into your control panel and delete all content, then do a full remote publish. If you are using a 3rd party FTP program you can use that to upload files to your host. Depending on what FTP program you are using some allow you to "mirror" content local/remote. If you can enable this feature your FTP program will take care of removing the orphan pages from the server for you automatically.

If you want to tell us which FTP program you are using someone can point you in the right direction for your settings

Thanks...I'm just using NOF 11 built in FTP to publish sites.
Is that OK ~ or is there a better one that would mirror the local/remote?

    Much appreciation!

I've recommended FileZilla for a while now. It is open source (free) and has some of the newer type secure FTP options you can select (if your web host supports them).

I don't know who your host is or what OS they are using but I have 2 tutorials that go over how to configure FileZilla with both Windows and Red Hat Linux hosting platforms that I offer to my hosting clients.

You can go over the tutorials to get a basic idea for how to set it up but in the end you may need to contact your web host for their FTP details to get connected to your hosting provider.

Great...I will find out what OS my host has and take a look at the tutorial.
    Thanks!

    I'll second that!!!

I recently dumped a paid for product that I loved. In fact I loved it so much I refused to upgrade it for years! .....until I was unable to log in to a Linux server. Mike suggested Filezilla and I was up and running in seconds. Nice product, easy to use and free!! How do they do that!?!?!?

Wouldn't it be great if there was only a single browser to worry about!!!
