    Default mp3 compression

I have an MP3 that I need to stream from a website. It's currently about 9.9MB whcih IMHO is too large. Can anyone a) recommend a freeware program for reducing the bitrate and b) advise what bitrate I should be compressing to. It's spoken instructions professionally recorded. TIA franko

Windows Media player should work. If you've got a Mac, iTunes will also. Or iTunes on a PC, for that matter. If you have access to the original, uncompressed source (WAV) file, it's better to convert once from that.

For spoken instructions, you could easily get away with 64 kb/s and still have very good quality.
