Any new version tries to be as compatible as possible with the older releases but in order to improve how the product functions there is always the possibility of issues arising on some site projects (depending on the site's complexity and other factors). Sometimes the issues are small, sometimes larger.

With small sites (under 75 pages) it is usually best to reconstruct the site again in the newer version and only start new site projects in the newer version.

It has always been this way with all new releases of the product. Sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes it requires a little more time and effort to move to a new version.

Let me see if I've got this straight ... you have a large "problematic"
website built with V11 and expect V12 to fix it. When it doesn't, you
blame V12 and criticize the support staff. Advice: Stop blaming
everyone else and find out what you're doing that screws things up.
Most of us here kick ourselves for making stupid mistakes and learn from
them. Instead of casting blame, ask rational questions and you'll
    receive the help you need.

    David actually said

<I took a large site that is ok under V11 and imported it.>

Not sure but to me that would indicate that it did not have a
    problem????????? So was not problematic???????

Maybe it's me that misread his posting.

    Ian,

Mr. Goadby said, "Even if my website contains problems, the fact that
V12 imported it ok means it ought have been cleaned up." Also, "If I
raise a support issue they will want me to send the whole site (as
before) and never come up with a fix except to say I should consider
    starting again."

That sounds like he has never been happy with V11 and is giving up.
I've worked with five versions now. Fusion is certainly not perfect and
all versions have their unique and common issues. The trick, like most
complex software, is to become familiar with it (which means reading the
help files) and working within its limitations. Users give fantastic
support here and other places. It takes time to know the "beast" and
keep it from biting off your hand. To broadcast your frustration with
innuendoes and insinuation is not helpful. I don't want to make a
federal case out of Mr. Goadby's comments, but he may be better served
by asking for help on the specific issues that plague him ... rather
than venting over a new release that won't clean up an imported website.

Well, there are a few that will be like I am. Now, since it's out, which is
great, I'm sitting back and waiting to see if it's buggy or not. I skipped a
lot of versions of NOF because they either failed to add anything and seemed
to really be bug fixes, and/or added no value that I was interested in.
NOF 11 seems to be the most elegant bug fix/features-added since about
version 7. I'm hoping that 12 fixed a lot of the existing problems if
nothing else; just that would get me to buy it. Also, from the hype list, it
does look like there have been a few good improvements and added
    functionality.
I'm very happy to see the v 12 activity; but will it now be another 18
months before anything is said again?
I dislike forums but understand they'll be set to appear here too, so I'm
    also waiting for that.
Another strange thing is, it's been said that Net Objects sold the
software to one company who in turn sold it to another company, so why is it
still called "NOF" (NetObjects Fusion). Just who does own it?

    Regards,

    Twayne`

The name of the company that now owns is called, curiously enough, NetObjects.

Which makes perfect sense of course.

It would be stupid to lose years of product identity if version 12 were to
be called "ABC Fusion", "XYZ Fusion", "Bubba's Fusion", or "Bob's Fusion"
    or even "Charles Fusion".

Even though that last one sounds good to me<g>, it just doesn't have that
    familiar NOF to it...

    :-)

Do you mean you imported from the Web? or you made a template in V11 and build a new site from that in V12?

The latter should work without problems. The former will be potentially problematic, because of the import method (it not applying for example a site style that matches that you used) - its useful for some projects to import from web (or locally saved versions), but if you have the V11 site, open V11 and make a template then work with that in V12.

    Keith,

    Yes I take your point.

I'm dubious at present about upgrading. I've been with this since V2 so
also accept what you're saying about the learning curve.

The mobile templates may be of interest but it would be good to have a
    rather more flexible e-commerce segment.

At present I've yet to find any really detailed info about the
improvements/additions. The NOF site seems to list a lot of things in
XII that are in V11 but there's no real indication if any improvements
have been made. I guess I'm going to have to bite the bullet soon and
    find out for myself.

Is there a way to get the release notes so we know what issues have been
resolved and what other are known? It would be crazy to upgrade if
things like the need to publish all so the DHTML roll over pictures work
    are still outstanding!
