It probably won't help if your serial number is for an update version, but
you can get the installer that is included with magazines here, it is just
over 100mb so won't be a fast download.

As I say, it may not work with your serial number but on the other hand.....

I've just had a go with the full magazine version and it seemed to accept the serial number OK but the installation gave me exactly the same error message as before!
I think it's time to have a closer look at the PC setup and security.

Thanks for the help and adivice anyway, much appreciated.

It certainly sounds like a problem with the PC, it's the only common
denominator. My guess is a problem with the Windows Installer or, looking
at this result I got with a Google search:

some sort of infection. Fingers crossed.

Just been browsing some of the content of the Google search. If you have
Winzip on your machine you can try this suggested cure (if you haven't got
Winzip you can download a trial version). Once Winzip is installed, RIGHT
click on the file NOF10.exe and left click "Open with Winzip" (this may be a
sub-menu item from "Winzip". Extract the contents of the file into a
temporary folder. Then go to that folder and kick off the installation by
    double clicking setup.exe.

    Fingers still crossed.

Hi Rob, glad it's sorted. A pleasure to be able to help.
