Default Horizontal Flash Menu Buttons group moving off center when resizing browser window

I hope someone can help me with this. My horizontal frash menu buttons move off center when you resize the browser window. Can anyone tell me how to keep them centered within the frame?

    Here's the site: www.curriersmagicalmania.com

    Thanks in advance.

That's only one issue you have.

The menu flashes (no pun intended) upwards briefly when you rollover items and flickers quite a bit.

In any event, Flash menus aren't really a good idea when they're the sole means of navigation on your site.

Visitors from devices like iPads and iPhones won't see the menus at all.

For something fancy like you are trying to do with Flash, I'd use a product from Likno Software called AllWebMenus (aka AWM).

A number of Fusion users here use AWM on their sites.

I use it almost exclusively for menus on sites I do in Fusion.

You'll find a tutorial for it here: http://www.beyondfusion.com/html/tutorial-awm.php

    Chuck,

I took a look at the menus offered by AWM and not really that impressed with the ones that come with the iinitial download. I see they also offer other more professional menus as well for $20 a download. I like the menus offered by OpenCube better: http://www.opencube.com/index.asp

I still like to know if there is any way to keey my current flash menus within the frame for now until I can come up with another set of menu buttons.

I appreciate any advise on how to keep the menus centered and not move when the browser window size is adjusted.

    Thanks!

AWM has the advantage of having the free Fusion component.

And you get Theme Pack 1 free as well as the themes included with the base program.

I've looked at OpenCube before and am not impressed.

    To each his own, eh?

    Hi Chuck,

Yep ... to each his own. But getting back to my original question .. is there a trick to keep the current flash menus within the frame for now until I can come up with another set of menu buttons? This flash menu came with my NOF version 9 and you would think it should remain stationary within the frame.

I appreciate any advise on how to keep the menus centered and not move when the browser window size is adjusted.

Do you have the same problem if you use a graphic nav bar instead of the flash one?

Do a File > Save As > (use different name) and test with a graphic nav bar. Doing a Save As will allow you to work on a duplicate of the site without changing anything in the actual saved site project. If it does not work out just open the original and nothing will be touched.

The issue appears to be with the absolute positioning of the flash bar and your div alignment tags.

If the reason you are using the flash bar is because you don't like the graphics in the stock style, you can use different graphics in place of the stock ones . This page will explain how to substitute different graphics in your style (down in there somewhere) http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=4069

Before you do any changing to a stock style you should make a duplicate http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=117

    Yo .... Turtle :-)

Thanks for your reply. I've been using NOF for over 10 years now and know how to substitute different graphics in styles that you are suggesting above. I've done that on many sites now ... but I just need to know at this point how to keep the flash menu stationary. I tried regular graphic buttons sand they don't move and stay within the frame. I just can''t get them to stay stationary using the flash buttons that come with NOF. If you can suggest a way of doing this i would be greatful. I'm looking at the AllWebMenus product now which is really new to me and I'll need some time to go through the optioins abnnd understand it better.

    Thanks!

You can try this (you might want to do the file save as first)....

Remove the div align center opening and closing tags.

On the layout properties palette put a tick in the center in browser check box (on one page just to test)

Generate that page and see if the flash stays with the rest of the page when the window is resized.

If it does, you will need to use the center in browser option on EVERY page as this is not a global setting but a page level setting.

If you are looking at AWM I also have a tutorial on using it with Fusion that is a little different than Chucks that you might want to go over (can't know too much about things when you are considering changing) http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=4030

    Mike,

Thanks for the suggestons but it didn't work, I tried removing all center tags and tried different combinations ... and the menu still floats. The only way it will stay stationary is if I left justify the page of course.

Thank you for the link to your AWM tutorial .. that's very helpful! Looking forward to learning how to create and use the AWM menus.

    Thanks!
    Dave
