Thread: NOF automatically saved a damaged file again!!!!!!!

  1. #1

Default NOF automatically saved a damaged file again!!!!!!!

After the just-reported broken Nav Bar, I closed NOF hoping to be able to NOT SAVE THE CORRUPTED VERSION, BUT NO, NOF SAVED IT, OVERWRITING THE LAST GOOD VERSION. IF THIS ISN'T MORONIC PROGRAMIMING, I DON'T KNOW WHAT EVER COULD BE.

YOU PEOPLE NEED TO STEP IT UP. I BROUGHT THIS TO YOUR ATTENTION IN 2005 AND HERE IT IS 2011 AND NOF STILL WORKS AS IF YOU ARE OUT OF TOUCH WITH THE ENTIRE PROGRAMMING WORLD.

IN CASE I'M NOT MAKING MY POINT WELL ENOUGH, THIS IS STUPID. IF I WERE YOU, I'D GET UP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT AND FIX THIS SO IT NEVER HAPPENS TO ONE OF YOUR USERS AGAIN. ANYTHING ELSE IS IRRESPONSIBLE.

Well said Turtle. I made a comment on the earlier threads.

In defense (maybe) I guess one or two people who visit here for the first
once or twice, might not realise that this is a user to user group help
facility. Still no excuse for not adopting the standard accepted protocol
    within groups.

I am a total newbie on NOF and feel very presumptious to dare give a hint, but if it helps good, if i say something completely stupid forgive me. Having encountered the same problem, i realised that if you go to Tools, Options, application a panel opens and the first option is : Autosave. If you clear it NOF will on closing ask you if you want to save or not.
I apply a simple principle on top of that which is to save systematically the entire site as a template on a usb drive as soon as i have the site as i want it.

Absolutely, and don't worry about saying things - we're all just here to
    share.

This forum can only work if everyone contributes.

Never be self conscious about trying to help another user.

No one will ever berate you for trying to help.

The NetO forums are some of the most civil on the web (for some unknown reason).

    Absolutely!

The peer help here has always been excellent (and I monitor about 50
different groups for comparison) and we almost never have anyone who
doesn't respect that and try to act nice.

    :-)
