Thread: NoF 10 Updates and Update issues

Default NoF 10 Updates and Update issues

A while back I installed the NoF Essentials package and caused all kinds of problems with my program.
Eventually had to reinstall without using Essentials.

Anyway, now I am running Windows 7 and NoF10 is working fairly well.
Had to do the "Administrator" thing and compatibility setting, but all has been okay since.

But I didn't reinstall essentials or any available updates.

just recently I started experiencing a problem...
only happens when starting NoF for the first time each Windows boot,
but a window would appear telling me that an update was available,
but the main NoF screen would be blank white as if not properly loaded
and the program will hang and I can't do anything.
I have to kill the process to get out.

I don't know how to stop the program from seeking these updates.

I guess my question is, what updates do I need to install to stop this from happening
and what updates are really necessary?
I am reluctant to put Essentials in again (and I'm not even sure what it is).

I noticed there are five updates for NoF 10...are they all necessary?
    Are there any issues associated?

Fusion 10 is a little old to be running under windows 7. Do you have a computer running windows XP that you could install it on ?

If you are going to use this older product in a new os environment you should install each update (all of them, one at a time). You might even want to reboot between each update just to make sure you start with a fresh updated system before starting the next update. Any short cuts you make may come back and byte you since you are running old software on a new OS.

Fusion essentials is Fusion 7.5. If you have a more current version there is no need to install one that old also.

For information, I'm running NOF10 on Windows 7 (64bit). My NOF10 package (CD) came with Updates 1, 2 and 3 pre-installed. Everything appears to run fine - and thats without having to "Run this program as an Administrator" or in Compatibility mode with an earlier windows OS !

HOWEVER if I add Updates 4 and 5 then NOF won't open any pre-existing site, instead the program stops running and shuts down.

I haven't diagnosed any further since all appears to be running fine at this time up to and including Update 3.

    Hope this helps

can you start a new blank project and work with it after doing all of the updates ? If you can, the issue is with the site projects and you will need to fix them before you can use them.

Same here. If I attempt to install the two updates that were not in my
original install, NOF10 throws its toys out of the pram and I have to wipe
it and do a complete reinstall. Same thing happens under both XP and
    Vista.

I do have XP on the same system, originally I was switching back and forth because NoF wouldn't work at all in Windows 7.
After correcting the "run as administrator" problem, NoF worked okay in Windows 7,
but with the same basic glitches that I had in XP.
So, I have continued to work in 7 for about 6 months now...
its just recently that I started having major hangups and slow down issues, that prompted me to look into the updates again.

Thanks guys for the related replies...I must admit, that I went ahead and installed the updates
before reading these responses. (I forgot to turn on the email notices)

    I installed all 5 updates.
I did not bother with essentials or nPower.

I installed all five updates, one after another.
I did not reboot after each install since I wasn't directed to by the program.

Old and pre-existing sites open fine, with no apparent problems.
I have one old site that always changed my Windows Aero colour scheme when opened and it still does that.

Not only am I having no issues with NoF, it is actually running smoother and much, much faster.
Right now, I am "one happy camper"!
