As soon as I make any effort to edit text, it crashes. I pasted in a large block of text as a word file (as I've done many times before) and now can't clean it up. It's about 4 pages of text if printed. Is that enough to cause the problem?

Pasting from Word has ALWAYS been a bad idea in NOF - in EVERY version of
NOF. It usually results in a corrupt NOD file and is a potential for
future crashes when you re-open the project even if it does save.
You should always paste into NOTEPAD first (to strip out all the embedded
HTML) and then copy/paste from there into NOF.
There is an option you can set in NOF to paste as plain text, but even that
seems wonky at times.
The copy/paste into NOTEPAD and then copy/paste into NOF will work for you
every time.

As an alternative to Charles' suggestion to usingtepad, u can set the default paste operation to plain text.

The problem is, it is doing the same thing with a plain text file. And I set the default to unformatted text, it makes no difference. As soon as I click with the text tool anywhere inside the text box, I get NOF has stopped working.
I really need to get this one page published to an existing site. I have NOF Essentials on my computer, could I get it done with that?

Once you paste from word the MS css is in Fusion and you need to manually remove it. If you delete the text, the css is still in Fusion. In other words you need to follow the 2nd tutorial listed in the original response or your site will continue to crash. The alternative is starting the entire site project from scratch and making the changes in Fusion as explained in the 1st tutorial listed in the original response

I see. I thought there was some remnant on the page, so I was deleting the page and starting with a fresh one. So following tutorial #2 won't affect any of the pages already in place?
