Very Disappointing not 64bit Compatible yet
I'm very disappointed in NOF 12. No where in advertising (emailings) or website that says it only 32bit compatible. I've been on Windows 7 64bit for over a year now and when I got the emailing I thought it would be a good time to reinstall NOF but with a newer version so I bought the upgrade (I've been using NOF off and on since version 2). Got it installed and found that it doesn't work no matter what compatabitly mode I put it in Here was my solution to get NOF 12 to run
This is not a easy way to go about it unless you are really good at computers
Installed VMWARE Server software (free)
In VMWARE Virtual Machine I installed a (Retail version) Windows XP/VISTA/7 32 bit OS
Installed AVG software (Free anti-virus software)
Ran update Windows in the VMWare Virtual Machine
installed the NOF Software
Now the application runs inside the VMware Virtual Machine
Major draw back I hope when you got your Windows 7 64bit machine you got a lot of memory and hard drive space
Recommend at least 8 GB of ram on your primary system (2GB on the VMWARE Virtual Machine)
Dual Core processor at least
I used a small amount of hard drive space of 32GB on the vmware virtual machine
Again very disappointed in NOF for not making this a 64bit compatible software

NOF 12 runs just fine on Windows 7/64 bit.
Also you might be curious to know that even MICROSOFT recommends that
people use the 32 bit versions of MS Office (rather than the 64 bit
versions).
The ONLY applications that benefit at all from being 64 bit are those that
are very RAM and PROCESSOR intensive (such as a CAD program or a big
spreadsheet or database).
Windows 7 is built quite well to operate 32 bit applications that are
correctly manifested and code signed - which NOF 12 is.
While you do need to use something like VMWare ( or Virtualbox which is
free) to operate OLD windows programs that are 16 bit, incorrectly
manifested or not code signed, there is no need of this for NOF 12 at all.
Creating a 64 bit version of an application is absolutely NOT TRIVIAL at
all. Most development tools don't support it yet and I would guess that we
will be well into Window 8 or 9 before it ever becomes the standard.

Don't know who Charles is.. nor do I care because of his response to my post was useless.
If NOF12 works on Win7/64bit tell me how to get it running. I've tried all the compatibility setting
So unless someone can tell me how to get this product working on a Win 7 64bit OS I'm still very disappointed

You don't need ANY compatibility settings. Most likely trying to use any
of them is messing you up.
NOF installs and runs just fine on Windows 7/64 (with UAC enabled and
running - a "standard" installation of Windows 7), right out of the box.
See attached.

I am a user and can confirm that it works fine in Windows 7/64 bit. Installed it from the download and had no compatibility issues with it at all.

Nice attitude - that'll get you a whole lot of help!
Charles is a long-term NOF user who pops in here to help people -
and doesn't deserve you getting all ar*ey with him.

Cummingsworld,
I would advise that if you come to these forums for help, you leave the attitude at the door. We are NOF users here to offer help and suggestions with the hopes of helping users with a solution to their problems.
As has been said, many users are using NOF 12 on Windows 7/64 box without a bit of problems so I would suggest some local settings be a bit off. Don't give up but most importantly, don't slam those that are trying to offer help.

Why did you insist on wasting ones time?
Under Windows 7 64bit with NOF 12, and there's no real reasons or
findings to run it under anything but as a 32bit app.
You will also find NOF 12 more stable being run as a 32bit app.
The 12 "hard-core work ethic" Win 7 64bit units we assist, and we use
one ourselves, show no problems, no speed or efficiency increases, etc.
by running NOF 12 in a "normal" 32bit mode. These are dual-core and some
quad-core units all with 4 to 8 GB mainboard RAM, as well.
You and others may find that forcing to change this status quo will be
opening up more cans of worms.
Ditto also, for Dreamweaver CS5 as well.."forcing" it to run at other
than a 32bit product under Win 7 64bit is useless and pointless.
BTW, running it as you are doing it, via a virtual machine, actually
slows it down, and increases chances of instability.

Perhaps you have problems running NOF because you have only installed the Java RU 64 BIT. NOF needs theJRE 32 bit version to run correctly.

We concurr with Barbara !
Forcing Win 7 6bit to run with the likes of JAVA 64bit (aka JVM 64bit),
or Microsoft Internet Explorer 9 64bit only serves to cause manifold
problems, and does NOT increase efficiency nor speeds.
