    Default Can't publish site

I recently had to uninstall and reinstall essentials. I entered all the information in the publish settings the same way they were. I still get "could not connect to ftp" when I try to publish. Any ideas on whats going on?

Did you install and run essentials as an administrator? This is necessary for good functioning in Win Vista and Win7.

Of course it could also be that you entered the wrong data or that something else disturbs.

I tried running it as administrator and nothing. All of the info has got to be correct. Its exactly the same as it was before. Could there be something in the advanced settings i need to change?

I've got the correct log in details. Where can I find a 3rd party ftp program?

So I tried to connect with the file zilla client. It said "could not parse server address: Invalid port given. The port has to be a value from 1 to 65535". I entered 21. Thats the port used in the advanced settings of essentials. Could that be the problem?

Port 21 is the default for FTP.

It's possible your host uses a different port.

    You'll need to ask them.

A little update. I tried a different user name and it connected. Tried the same username in essentials and it still won't connect
