Default NOF11 crashes trying to export a template

I want to export my site, http://www.lightshow.cc, to a template so I can import it into NOF 12.

NOF 11 crashes every time I try to export a template.

I have followed the "got fusion" steps for exporting a template I found on this forum:

    (1) From the assets view, menu bar assets, I chose Verify all assets. NOF11 responded File verification complete, I clicked ok. I was not asked to delete unused assets. There are no unused assets.

    (2) Then I clicked on site view, tools, re-optimize. NOF11 responded, "This process can increase the efficiency of the site file (.nod) you have open now", I clicked OK.

    (3) Then from site view, on the menu bar I clicked on File, Export as Template, entire site. NOF11 asked where I want to to save the template, I selected the default location, checked include publish profiles, and clicked on OK.

After a short delay a crash window pops up that reads:

Netobjects Fusion has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience. If you were in the middle of something, the information you were working on might be lost. For more information about this error click here.
    AppName: fusion.exe AppVer: 11.0.0.5012 ModName: utcmprss.dll
    ModVer: 1.1.0.0 Offset: 00006823

NOF11 crashes even if I try to export just one page.
NOF11 crashes even if if I don't ask it to include publish profiles.

Do any of the Netobjects experts know what I should try next?

    Start a new blank site.
    Go to site view
press ctrl + N about 5 or 6 times to make some pages

run through the export steps with this new site.

Does it give you the same errors?

make a copy of your user sites folder (for safety).

From the windows control panel uninstall fusion

    Restart your computer

    Run the Fusion installer

Download and install update #1 from the NetO site http://netobjects.com/html/downloads.html

Restart your computer after the update finishes

Start another new site (just like before) and see if it will export

Your existing user sites folders should be undisturbed (but the first thing you did was make a copy of it so it is safe)

I did as you suggested, again
I copied the user folder to a safe location.
    removed NOF11 completely.
    Restarted.
Updated the new NOF11 with the #1 update
    rebooted
    started NOF11
    created a new blank site
    did assets verify
    Did re-optimize
    tried to export as template
NOF11 crashed, same message, same module.

Do you have any other suggestions?

    I purchased NOF12 and I can't get from NOF11 to NOF12 because I can't export a template.

    >>sheesh - what kind of a program can't read the file of an earlier version?<<<

BTW - This will make you laugh - I contacted Netobjects "customer support" and explained by email that I can't export a template from NOF11 because NOF 11 Crashes trying to export a template. The guru at Netobjects customer support suggested, "Verify all file assets. Export the site to a template. Open template in Netobjects 12."

[laughing and crying at the same time]

This is a non traditional way of migrating up versions.

Using windows explorer make a copy of the contents of your version 11 user site folder in the version 12 user sites folder (make sure you copy NOT move... right click and hold, drag, then select copy).

    Start Fusion 12

Click File > Open then navigate to the project file in the version 12 user sites folder and select it.

You may have a wonky project file, in which case your version 12 project may not behave very well for you.
