Thread: Need advice converting web site to another format

Default Need advice converting web site to another format

I, like many, have been using NOF 8 (provided by Netfirms) for years. Since Netfirms pulled the rug out from under me by changing platforms and making NOF unusable, I need to convert my site to some other format.

I'm not a web designer by any stretch and I would prefer to avoid having to completely rebuild my website from scratch. I tried importing my site into WebPlus X4, but I didn't get anything that remotely resembled my website.

Any clues would be appreciated. The folks who follow my site are waiting for me to update it.

I do know one thing, I plan to leave Netfirms just as soon as I can, possibly well before my hosting plan expires (It was up for renewal 2 weeks before Netfirms migrated).

You can use any non proprietary version of Fusion. The netfirms version was locked to their hosting so cannot be used on any other hosting account.

You can download the free version of the Fusion product. It is version 7.5 but there is not much difference between that and version 8. That is, if you do not want to update to the latest release (version 12). Here is the URL for the free version of the product: http://netobjects.com/html/essentials.html

The free version is not a locked or restricted version. It is a full retail version of Fusion 7.5

I have had quite a few disgruntled former netfirms users host with me since they changed things around and left their users out on a limb with nothing but a saw.

    Hi,

I'm having the same problems. I have upgraded the netobjects through the link above as instructed by a Netfirms Supervisor however, when I go to open my old site created in Netobjects Fusion 8 it's not compatible. How can I take my site created in Netobjects Fusion 8 and open it in the Netobjects Fusion Essentials?

I also have downloaded and installed NOF Essentials and it will not let me open the site I created in NOF 8. It gives a warning that the site was created using a newer version of NOF.

Essentials is 7.5 with a facelift.

It can't open sites created in more current versions of the program.

You will need to start a new blank site in essentials. Open fusion 8 and copy/paste the content form 8 into essentials. This should take less than an hour for a small site of under 25 pages in size.

I can't open fusion 8 while fusion essentials is open nor can I open fusion essentials while fusion 8 is open. I get a warning that says both versions cannot be open simultaneously.

I have the same problem. If I upgrade to NetObject 12, can I import my site that is built with the Netfirms version of 8? I do have my web site saved as a template, will it work in the newer version?

Funny how no one can answer this question for the thousands of people now with useless Version 8 websites

It should. Did you follow the 3 step export procedure?
