Question New Version of Site Available?

Launching NOF12, which is set to open the last open project, pops up with a message:

There is a newer version of the site available. Do you want to download
    the latest version?
    [ Yes ] [ No ]

Anyone have a clue what this means and what happens if I click "Yes"?

This is a project I am seconds away from pressing to 500 CDs, so I'm in no mood to "play" with it.

Are you set up to do NOF versioning? Otherwise, that is one bizarre message. If you're feeling bold, make a bunch of backups and then pull the trigger and see what happens. And don't blame me.

Well, I am using "Backup Manager" for this project. First time I've tried it.

Now I'm thinking... recently when I chose Backup Manager I got a message:
The Backup Manager has exceeded the suggested number of site backups.
Please remove any site backups no longer in use.

I had created Version 1 through 5, so I dutifully deleted the oldest backup and continued. The newest backup was then called "Version 1", so I guess NOF figured that "Version 5" was newer than version 1, even though the date stamps say differently.

I created a new backup (without deleting any), and it was named "Version 6". Now I don't get the message.

This seems a little less than optimal. First the possibility that NOF could have reverted me to an older backup, and second the use of the term "download" seems wrong. Unless there is an option for "cloud" backup that I'm not aware of.

Since I don´t use the Backup Manager this issue is new and very interesting for any support reasons.

Ray, now you created a new backup without deleting any other old one.
But what happens if NOF tells you again that you reached the maximum number of backups ?
    Back to square one?
This will be a total mess and mix up.....
"Less than optimal" seams to be an understatement....

Just did some playing around with the Backup Manager. It seems if there is a number "missing" in the sequence of backups, this number will be re-used.
So I have managed to generate a list of backups in this order:
    6, 7, 1, 8, 2, 3.

And, yes, Mia, I am the master of understatement.

... but you can set the amount of backups (templates) in your site options up to whatever you want.

... this is pretty logical, because the version of your site is always newer as a saved backup. If you choose "Yes" your recent site will be replaced with the backup, regardless if you have changed something or not. This is just a "warning".
