    Default Form Handler Submission

Can anyone please help with info on how to submit data to an email from a
    form?

I created a "Forms Handler" for visitors to our site to send emails.
However, each time a user clicks submit, the following error occurs "[Error
201] Could not send email to 'onlinemail@gomoabeachestates.com' from
    'onlinemail@gomoabeachestates.com' using the SMTP server
'smtp.gomoabeachestates.com:587'. Please check if you have access to the
    SMTP server."

I have verified that access to SMTP server is correct. Also tried switching
to a different SMTP server......same problem.

    Thanks

    Martin,

This comes up quite often, if you do a search or look at the headings and
follow the thread, you can find the answer yourself most of the time.
    -
This is from a past 10/18/09 post above

    SMTP server - 127.0.0.1
In NOF10 this appears as my default setting and I have never changed it.
    Works for me!

    From: TheWebSite@domain.com
The FROM field helps the recipient know where the email has come from.
When building forms for clients I normally make this
    website@theirdomainname.com

    To: Recipient@whateverdomainyouwanttogetit.com
The TO filed is simply where you want the web initiated email to go to.
This can be any valid email address.
So again, when building for clients, I make this something like
    sales@thierdomainname.com

    Subject: Enter a descriptive subject
You can have several forms on your site.
So specifying a descriptive subject helps distinguish one email from
    another.

    Success URL: ../html/success.html
Yes you need a page in the site that shows the visitor they have
    successfully sent the web email.
Remember to put the double dots (..) and specify the page name you
    choose.
    Mine is normally success.html

    CSV File Path: Leave Blank
Only used if you are recording the visitors who complete the form.
I rarely use this but it does have a value sometimes.

    File Upload Folder: Leave Blank

    HTH,
    Bert

Thanks for that. I had read and tried suggestion from 10/18/08
post.......no luck. Basically, "fh_formshandler.php" gives the [Error
201] could not send email message.

    Web page is http://www.gomoabeachestates.com/html/contact_us.php

This is my first time using/syncing to a news group, so pardon my question.
I can only see posting between 10/12/09 - 10/24/09.......Is there a way to
sync to older posting so I can search for possible solutions from older
    posts?

    I am using NOF 11.

    Best,
    M

    Hi Martin,

No problem, welcome to the group.
    -
The error comes from smtp. You do not have to use the smtp server to send
you results from your form. With the info I gave you, you could not plug
that in to your form? Take out all the smtp stuff and it should work.

Sorry Martin, got my wires crossed....

That post was for a form you set yourself from a layout or table etc.
    -
The forms handler component has a tick box on the right for 'smtp requires
authentication' , untick that and the one below ssl, and try your form.

THANKS YOU BERT !!! It works now

I had not thought to uncheck SMTP because Netfirms, my web host, said to
    configure SMTP requires Authenticate.

    Hello,
Curious where you found the smtp settings. I created a new form and using
the Form General settings I see the information that you laid out earlier
but I do not see anywhere to change smtp settings.
You suggest using the default settings in NOF.
    Thank you

    ...
The SMTP Settings are on the "General Tab" of the Forms Handler palette.
See this page in my forms handler tutorial.

    http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=4026

You need to contact your web host in order to find out what IP address your
    mail server is on.

We have separate servers for each of our services (http, mail, database,
stats, etc) so you need to specify the actual IP address of the mail server
you are on with our hosting. Many hosts do not use separate hardware for
different services so you can use local host (or the fusion default of
127.0.0.1) as the mail server is the same IP address as the http server and
the database server as everything is on a single machine.
