Is There Any Way to Hide the Tab Bar?

New to me is the tab bar that appears below the horizontal ruler making it easier to navigate to recently viewed site pages. Although this can be useful, in most cases it is not since I tend to edit only one page at a time and then update my site, or I view so many pages that the tab bar quickly fills up and becomes less useful than using the Shortcut keys Ctrl Up/Down Left/Right.

I could not find any way to hide this tab bar. I would like to save space on my 1280x1024 monitor, especially vertical space. I already customised a minimal toolbar layout and hide the rulers when not using them.
