Thread: Sizing Page to Content

    Default Sizing Page to Content

I use the shortcut Ctrl Shift L a lot to size my page to the content.

Is there any way to do this globally for the entire site?

Even when I have done this, the bottom master border is lower than it should be on many pages, such as on this page.

The attachments show how it looks in NetObjects Fusion XII and in Opera (Firefox is similar).

The bottom master border is always below ALL of your content, which includes the navigation on the left.

Indeed, but why is there a large gap in the browser, when there is none at all in NetObjects Fusion? In Page Design Mode the top of the master border at the bottom touches the bottom of the master border on the left. On other pages it is actually above the bottom of the left master border — see this page for example.

I see these gaps a lot. AFAICT, they're a product of the invisible table
structure NOF uses to place elements on a page when it publishes.
Sometimes I can shorten the gap by adjusting a Space Above or Space
Below value in text somewhere higher up the page. Sometimes I have to
manually adjust the visible gap in design view and republish. Sometimes
    nothing makes a difference.

I also get variable gaps in a series of "callouts" on the righthand side
of many pages in our company site. There's supposed to be 20 pixels
between the bottom of one callout and the top of the next. I often have
to fiddle with the actual placements in Design view to approximate the
    20 pixel gap.

Note that you can't depend on Preview view when it comes to the size of
the gap. You have to at least do a local publish and look at the page in
an actual browser. Sometimes, the size of the gap will vary from one
browser to another, although they're usually reasonably consistent.

I've had success by placing a single cell table without border at the bottom of my page before the masterborder. It does a couple of things. Sometimes it helps with the gaps mentioned; but just as important, it stops the masterborder butting right up against the bottom of the page layout when I have a lower masterborder that's different from the layout.

Any work-around that requires editing each page is not viable — my site has 3,885 pages. The published HTML page is not the same as the page in design mode. This is either a bug or an issue with incorrect browser rendering. I have viewed the pages in several browsers and all suffer from the same issue, so it looks like a bug in NetObjects Fusion. Preview mode is also showing the same problem — it is not WYSIWYG as it should be (unless the user has set large fonts or something else that would be expected to affect the layout).

I want the master border to butt up against the bottom of the page layout — that's the way I have designed it, and the way it works on every other site and web design program.

My Main Website was designed in NOF Essentials, and the bottom master border butts up against the bottom of the page layout as expected.
