    Default navigation bar

hi - how do you make the nav bar do as it's told?

I have a home page, then a level of other pages, then some of these have a third and fourth level.

I want the nav bar on the home and first level pages but not on the lower ones

And indeed on some of the 3rd level pages there is no nav bar, but on other 3rd level pages the full nav bar shows and I can't get rid of it. Setting for all pages is Site, !st level, graphical, and nothing else ticked. It's the same setting on all 3rd level pages but some have a nav bar and some don't.

Anyone know the secret handshake that makes it work predictably?

    thanks
