Form Query
Hi All - was using dbmasters formm@ailer since v8 (from memory) but
there doesn't appear to be a way of setting the 'from' e-mail. So it
comes through as 'unknown sender' and is being automatically intercepted
by my ISP - marked as spam, etc as as the form often goes to multiple
recipients then this is becoming a pain to say the least.
Have reverted to Netobjects own form php and the form submits fine
although it does not put the field names in. It should show - Retailer:
Joe Bloggs - then separate line Make: Ford - etc. What comes through is
Joe Bloggs - then separate line Ford. Is there anyway to get the field
names to be shown. Also the e-mail starts with Dear Sir/Madam - need to
turn this off but cannot find the settings to do so.
Any help input appreciated as I'm going round in circles over this.

Thanks Ray - had a look at Tectite and got it working with one of my
forms. Was hoping there was an easier way rather than altering stuff
with the hidden fields - recipients, subject line.

I'm also a big fan of the Tectite script. It's worth every bit of effort
you put into setting it up.

Just a thought: Captcha is fine as long as it provides codes LARGE enough to
see, and CLEAR enough to copy correctly.
I would recommend what your captcha is going to look like BEFORE you use
it; some of them can actually chase people away. If I have trouble seeing
the code to enter, then only if it's important will I try again, but either
way I end up gone! I and others like me won't put up with not being able to
get a code easily and correctly entered. Personally I use something similar
to Captcha, but that I devised myself, requiring answers to questions only
the visitor would know. Then on the verification I request one or two more
things that require the exact same thing (zip code?) be entered or there
will be no acces granted.

I never use Captcha. To date, the Tectite form has protected our forms
very well without needing to go that route. The honeypot trap may be the
most effective component. I also really like the email scramble.

Thanks guys - I'll go and study the Tectite script. Got the thing
working okayish - just a couple of rough edges to sort out but I guess
it confirms why I didn't bother with the built in form handler with NOF
in the first place. I would continue down the dbmasters route but the
ISP's aren't happy campers with the 'unknown sender' bit. I've tried
HTML hidden script in the form but no luck and the dbmasters forum seems
a bit dead - guess the developer is doing other things these days. So
Tectite it is.
Again, thanks for your input, much appreciated.

I used the dbMasters formmail script for several years. Then we started
getting hit with spam, and its anti-spam features weren't enough or
prevented the script from running. In addition, each time I added a new
form, I had to add a new section to the script and modify its values.
With Tectite, it's "set up once and you're done".
