Hello,
I'd like to open a link in a new tab rather than the old & outdated mode of a pop-up window. Anybody have any tips on how to do this?
Thanks in advance!

When you define the link, at the bottom of the Link window, set the Target: to "Existing" using the drop-down, then set the Name: to "_blank" using the second drop-down that will magically appear.
This will cause the link to open in a new window. It will be up to the site visitors browser settings as to whether that means a new window or a new tab.

It is a user preference that they set in their web browser - nothing that
you have any control over.
