Just got an email today from TeamFusion - another push for V10-minus to upgrade at 55% Off. Obviously their database doesn't recognize me as a V11 user. Somethings up.

    Beach Ape;
I have two addresses registered with NOF and I get the 11 offers to both of them, even though I've owned it since first release........

    Twayne;
I know exactly where you're coming from: NOF 11 suits my needs perfectly at the moment (as I get older, my customer base is dwindling and I don't see the need to look for more ) but it would be nice - polite even - if we could be given some idea whether NOF will be a: 'upgraded' in its present form; b: a new product with no easy upgrade path for current sites; or c: quietly left to die.

    P.S.
FWIW, I'm a regular NOF user since V4, complete with regular excursions to other titles from Adobe, Microsoft and Serif, but all have fallen by the wayside in favour of NOF despite all its quirks

Yeah Ken, I'm in about the same boat here that you are except I've only been
with NOF since 7.1. It took until 11 though before I upgraded; the in
betweens didn't do a lot for me personally and then I think finally 9 came
out but was buggy so I waited and finally grabbed 11 on a special offer "way
    back when".
Besides NOF I don't use a lot of other tools. NVU for sandboxing
sometimes because it's a lot quicker to work with when it's just one or two
features I'm working on. Then NoteTab Pro (6.2) because I could easily write
small libraries and clips for coding assistance plus it'd feed my local
Xampp server for whatever browser I want; Really streamlines design for me.
I know a lot of guys here like to use 3rd party stuff but I try to avoid
it where NOF can accomplish what I need and so far it does. Same goes for
javascript; I avoid it wherever it will put a barrier up to a visitor.
Learning PHP was really the only thing I did where I had to spend any time
on a learning curve once I got my head around NOF.
    With the exception of XP OS Word 2002 I've weaned myself of Microsoft;
got caught in their dev apps forced upgrades (like VB Net et al) and decided
to get rid of MS much as I could. Too many missing drivers to go all-Linux
so I just dabble in that now and then; I'm a rank beginner with Linux.
Due to a concussion several years ago that left me learning-disabled for
the most part and it's held me back a lot. Got that one side of my body to
catch up physically but can't overcome the learning disability completely.
This group has been a godsend for NOF and PHP assistance.

    Happy PHP-p-h-p<g>

Go the whole hog Twayne! I did several years ago and don't regret it. With the exception of the OS (currently Vista) I have no other MS apps on the system. You can replace MS Word and all the Office suite with Open Office (http://www.openoffice.org/). It's free and it's compatible with all MS documents.

NOF11 (in Admin mode!); Vista Premium 64bit; AMD Phenom IIx4 945 Processor 3.00Ghz; 8.0Gb RAM
Wouldn't it be great if there was only a single browser to worry about!!!

I hear ya Paul, but OO.O is one of the ones that leaves me short. For me it
has two problem areas, the worst of which is Writer's inability to get some
basic fixes that have been in it since day one and which they've decided
they don't want to work on. If it were only one or two annoyances it might
be OK but there are enough of them that it's just easier to jump over to
Word for a few seconds to get them done. I've submitted them multiple times
to the group and they get lip service and a lot of agreement, but never make
it to the "todo" list. The other area is iinstability of writer and large
docs with images, especially in Tables. Both areas affect calc, writer and
base, among some other annoyances but I can work around most of those.
I've found the opendocumentation and 'libre' encouraging and in the short
comms I've had with them so far they indicate they'll be looking at several
of the things I care about. I'm hoping.
Another high-use tool a program called PaintShop Pro which has no plans
to port to Linux in any of their plans, which no Linux app can yet compete
well with. Please don't recommend Gimp ... if I hear one more recomendaton
for it I think I'll explode. It just cannot do the job I need. And trying to
use separate program standalones to replace PSP is a real quagmire.

Beleve it or not, I even still use a WFWG program; Cardfile! I have two
large rolodex-like files in it that are huge. Guess I'll have to just write
a conversion program for the database on that one so it'll run on something
more current. It's just too much typing to enter it iinto another program
manually but the data format is relatively simple so ... someday.

And then there's hardware drivers that don't exist yet. It's just way too
expensive in view of all the other problems to replace expensive hardware
just to have something that has 'nix drivers available.
So all in all, that leaves me with having to have a windows OS as my main
OS for efficiency and accuracy in my work. I just dabble in Linux, ranting
and raving every time a compile fails or a driver isn't doing what it
should, etc.. Linux has its place, esp for newbies and "standard" computer
stuff, but the techie requirements are rather high and it's not good for
    some SOHOs like mine is.
And you might find this a little silly, but I consider the 'nix naming
conventions (or lack thereof) to be beyond silly. Intuition is far from a
    strong point with 'nix.

So although I still have a few MS OS/apps around, the good news is that MS
won't ever be getting another $ from me unless they successfully find a way
to kill XP and/or Office XP(2002) on me. They're stable, up to date and
reliable with no bugs in any of the areas I use or have used.
Support for the OS stopping in 2014 is no worry of any kind to me unless,
like I said, they found a way for force obsoletions/use of their older apps.
I haven't needed support for many years and don't expect that to change,
plus I suspect newsgroups/forums will go on for a long time. And security,
well, according to my machine records, I haven't had anything any worse than
a keylogger or two planted on me.
In ONE event about 9 years ago, I manually and without realizing it, DID
download a bad malware I forget the name of now from a website. Kinda hard
to bitch when I invited it in myself, unknowingly of course. That was the
GAIN fiasco; forget the other name it went by.
And one other time I had, I think, file corruption from an unknown source
and it had been there so long (before I made DVD backups periodically) that
every image I had on the external drives contained it. It was made worse
because it was part of Flash, a pretty ornery piece of software itself. I
had to delete all my C drive images and manually rebuild the system, but
that was the last time. Whether it's luck or diligence, I've been fine since
then; other problems were flailing fingers and stupid moves, all of which
were easy to fix. Knock on wood!!
The real "last straw" for Microsoft in my case, was their third foray
into successfully obsoleting dev packages like VB and a couple other
studios. It was a bitch and a half getting away from Microsoft's
strangle-hold and finding non-single-sourced apps to replace them with, but
as luck would have it, between my becoming disabled followed by a brain
concussion slowed things down enough that the replacements got much easier.

Wooofff!! Sorry about the verbosity! Wouldn't blame you if you'd quit
reading long before this point. Anyway, that's my story and I'm sticking to
    it!

    Stuff snipped.

I agree with you in general. I'm using Widows XP for some mission critical software, including
QuickBooks for which Linux has no replacement. I am using an old machine with Ubuntu for various
tasks, including online gaming. The truth is, I like GIMP - it is good enough for what I'm doing and I
have no justification to invest in Paintshop Pro.
I wish Linux had all the stuff Widows has. I would switch in a second.
