    Default 'Recommend a friend' - how ?

    HI Folks

A client has just decided that they'd like to incorporate a 'tell this
friend about our website' facility - ideally with some way of logging
this so that, when the friend books a ticket on the website, the person
doing the recommending can get a 'thank you' gift / discount / whatever.

Anybody been there - done that ? - and would be kind enough to sahre a
few pointers / links to scripts etc...

I'm suspecting that it'd be quite a job to automate it (especially as
the ticket selling 'bit' is being handled external to 'my' website -
but I'm wondering what half-way houses there might be between here &
    there <g>

    Many thanks
    Adrian

    Hi Adrian,

It won't help with getting data back on the user who recommended the site,
but the easiest way to do a "Tell a friend" along with submitting a page to
a social bookmark site (most any of them in fact) is to use AddThis.

    www.addthis.com

It is free and the reporting and statistics are great.

Plus it is just far too easy<g>.

    :-)

I 2nd Charles' recommendation. ADD THIS covers all the social bookmark
sites, plus email, and personal bookmarks with just one little button. Easy
to use and a snap to set up. Just copy & paste their code into your site
    with Ctl+T.

Thanks - that looks like it might do the job,
_provided_ I can get the cleint to agree/define exactly what they're
    trying to achieve <g>

This certainly looks like an easy way of getting the viral marketing
thing going - which is (I think!) what they are trying to do....

I loved those YouTube videos last week about interaction between 'the
designer and the client' - more than a grain of truth in some of those!

    Thanks
    Adrian
