    Default Auto Generated Images

Can anyone confirm this old stand-by?

.gif is still your only choice for auto generated images regardless of trying to change to jpeg or png?
Navigation should be Tools > Options > Application > Auto generated Image Output.

This is an echo from Feb, 2011

"known bug that will be corrected with an update"? This was with v12 and didn't appear with any updates there.

I'm not sure I understand your question.

I can go to Tools > Options > Application > Auto generated Image Output and I can set
    • GIF to "not optimized" or "Best GIF",
    • JPEG to "not optimized" or "Best/Good/Progressive/Small JPEG", and
    • PNG to "not optimized" or "Best PNG"

In Page View, if I insert a graphic (GIF, JPEG or PNG), the default in the Properties Panel is "Application Default". I can change any type of graphic via the dropdown to be "not optimized", "Best GIF", "Best/Good/Progressive/Small JPEG", or "Best PNG".

So no answer means no understand.

I can change it too. But do your changes stick?
After the above, for second time go to Tools > Options > Application > Auto generated Image Output to see your changes didn't stay?

Well, you're not going to like this, but, yes, my settings stick.

There have been various reports from random individuals about settings not staying set, but (thankfully) that has not been the case with me.

be warned that if you set GIF, JPEG and PNG to anything other than "not optimized", you will end up with all layout images in the autogen folder unless you spend time and set each image in each layout to not optimized in its property palette

the Nof 2013 default is set to optimize all images according to the setting in tools, options, application (I for one don't like this one bit and consider it a bug)

with Nof9, no layout image was ever optimized regardless of the setting in tools, options, application

the settings in tools, options, application should only apply to navbars and banners and other modified images

unmodified (original) images should never be optimized and end up in autogen folder

you can avoid it by manually setting each layout image to Not Optimized but it is of course time consuming
