Default Is upgrade from Essentials to NOF2013 necessary for Windows 8?

I'm a website novice but have successfully constructed a site using NOF Essentials on a Windows XP laptop. I should now like to export the template to a new PC to continue developing the site. Will it work OK under Windows 8 or do I have to upgrade to NOF2013?
On the NOF website there is an UPGRADE NOW price and higher price for FULL VERSION. Can I use the Upgrade Now option if I need to purchase?
    Thanks.

You can continue using Fusion essentials on a windows 8 machine. You will need to run that install as admin to got it to work.

You can also upgrade from essentials

I have the same problem with transferring to a new Windows 8 machine, in that 'page preview' works but when I hit 'preview site' the timer bar box appears and a currently open IE page appears. It looks like the program knows to go to IE, but not to open up the website.
I've reset to administrator as you suggest. After opening Netfusion, the list of existing site has disappeared. Attempting to open from the file list produces a warning message of invalid path.
I'd appreciate any suggestions that anyone may have
