Default Java Errors in Browsers after publishing NOF 7 Rotaing Images - Rotaing Banner apps

    Hello:

Yes, we still use NOF 7.0 for several site (it usually works pretty nice) but in the last week or so we are getting errors in IE 8+, Firefox, etc. on NOF7 published pages / sites. These pages / sites typically have the NOF version of Rotating Banner Ad app and / or the Rotating Image app utilized and published.

The browsers are listing the JAVA as outdated and the apps will not show or play on any sites. The browser pop-up warnings are very obtrusive and tend to "scare" users. I noticed the rotating NOF apps appear to use a DynamicBanner.class java applet or something similar. Is there a JAVA update for the apps included with and used by NOF 7 ?

Is there a sensible work-around? We don't want to have to rebuild a big pile of sites because of this.

    Can anyone help?

    Example: http://www.nbfsc.com/html/main.html

The update is called Fusion 2013.

Your sites created with a 10 year old product should display just fine on 10 year old browsers like Netscape navigator 4.0 (wow I have not said that product name in over a decade now).

As a work around you can use notepad to edit/replace the obsolete code

It is a daunting task to rebuild a whole site (over 200 pages) in a new program. I am pretty sure migrating from NOF7 to at least NOF12 is not an option, at least not without issues.

Is it possible to use NotePad to edit the NOF7 "built-in" versions of Rotating Banner Ad app and / or the Rotating Image app?

Right now it would be great if we could find a working script to do rotating banner ads on this site. There are about 13 banner ads and we want them to change every 4 or 5 seconds and they are individually linked to the advertisers web sites. Does anyone have any ideas of a script that we could use with NOF7 to get at least this working? I am no JAVA expert so I need something fairly simple to get working and it will CTRL-T into a text box on the NOF7 pages and just simply work.

While on the topic... I have dozens of sites done in NOF7 over the years - can they be seamlessly migrated to something newer (like NOF12, which I own) without any big issues?

    Thanks.

Default Need help with Banner Ad Script for use on NOF7 site pages...

    Hello:

Does anyone know of a working script to do rotating banner ads on a NOF7 designed site. There are about 13 different banner ad images and we want them to change every 4 or 5 seconds and they are individually linked to the advertisers web sites. Does anyone have any ideas of a script that we could use with NOF7 that works without issue? I am no JAVA expert so I need something fairly simple to get working. Something that can be pasted into a text box (using the CTRL-T function) on the various NOF7 pages.

I would use the "Banner Ad" component function built-into NOF7 but when I do they all of a sudden are throwing-up JAVA warnings in browser windows because the JAVA is outdated in the NOF7 scripts I guess...?

    Thanks in advance...

You can give some of the banner scripts on hotscipts.com a shot

I wrote a coldfusion routine that pulls add banners out of a database and rotates them. You could do something like this. Makes it easy to maintain as it is a browser admin interface to work the banners and display (set the order or random, how long they display or random display on page load).

As far as migrating..... Fusion 7 is rather old. I would suggest you download and install the free version (Fusion 7.5) which has some of the newer code in it. Migrate to that product, export then migrate to Fusion 12 from there.

You may have issues with some of the internal components that have changed from 7 to 12 such as the site nav and a few others.

It would be a case by case trial and see process.

My suggestion would be to keep the sites in the version they were created in and see if the scripts can be used.

Here is my tutorial on how to insert outside code and scripts into Fusion (it should still have the old Fusion 7 method in there and if not, ask for help should you run into issues)

Does your web host support/supply the ColdFusion dynamic language on your hosting plan?

Your host must provide the environment otherwise you cannot use ColdFusion (it is a server side scripting language).
