Default NOF NEWS - Date code format and editing the .CSV

Does anyone know what the format is of the date that is stored in the .CSV
files for the NOF NEWS and FAQ?

And if you know that, maybe you know this...

Is it possible to "manually" create a News entry by editing the NEWS.CSV
    file?

When I tried adding a news entry by editing the .CSV file, the NEWS page
didn't recognize the new file, and even the previous items were not seen.
When I replaced the .CSV file with the original, all of the old items came
    back.

BTW, this is not frivolous hacking. I am still having issues with the NOF
components (particularly the FAQ). I am about to wipe all of the files off
the server and do a clean republish. But I'd like to salvage the entries in
the NEWS section. The FAQ is moot, since they've all been erased -- again.
    :-\

    Thanks,

OK. I figured out the .CSV editing bit. If you open the file in Excel, some
essential formatting (notably quotation marks) get stripped out.

Using Notepad or PHPNotepad maintains the proper formatting. Adding a NEWS
entry by editing the .CSV file (being careful with all of the relevant
formatting) will show up in the NEWS. So I should be good to just back up
the .CSV files and restore them after the nuking.

Oh, and I found these Unix to Human date code converters:

    http://www.4webhelp.net/us/timestamp...892&timezone=0
    http://www.onlineconversion.com/unix_time.htm

Although the result seems to differ from what NOF shows as the date by 1
    day. Must be a Y2K thing.... ;-)
