Versioning (now "backups") Manager won't save settings

I had this problem once before years ago with a prior version of NOF and I can't remember how I solved it.

I go to TOOLS > OPTIONS > CURRENT SITE and select the "BACKUPS" tab and enter all of the information (I select a valid publish profile, give it the path to an empty directory, etc.) and hit OK . . . and when I return to the dialog, the info is not saved. Any clue how to fix this?

This works fine for me: Make changes in dialog, save and close dialog, save and close site. Reopen site, all changes are present and correct. I think you have to save the site for the changes to take.
