OT - MS Expression Web
Any of the NOF users here ever use MS Expression Web? Thoughts?
Opinions? Does it play well with NOF?

Re: OT - MS Expression Web
If you must work in asp.net environment, use MS Expression. It was built to
code asp.net. If you're working on static html pages, pick a tool and stick
with it. Don't try to work with one application, then open the page in
another. It seldom works out well.

Re: OT - MS Expression Web
Thanks. That's what I'm trying to do at this stage. Continue on with NOF
(which I've been using for years) or jump ship to something new. I'm
leaning to sticking with NOF, but don't want to ever get locked in and
not consider other options.

Re: OT - MS Expression Web
I always say, "Use the correct tool for the project at hand." I have many
different applications in my web developer's toolbox.

One pair that DO work well is NoF and 4D. I use both for about 40% of
my web sites.
NoF for page layout and navigation, 4D for CMS, dynamic features and
eCommerce. A great pairing, IMHO.

Hi Roscolo:

Expression Web is really unnecessary now that MS Visual Web Developer 2008
Express Edition is available . . . and at no cost.
http://www.microsoft.com/express/vwd/
This has just about all of the goodies in Expression Web including a great
CSS editor, etc.
or, direct download:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en
V WebDev supports ASP.Net development VERY well and is a very capable HTML
editor too.
Now that Fusion uses CSS-based layout, Fusion should "play well" (or at
least better) with standards based technologies. However, in my opinion, it
doesn't really make sense to develop in multiple environments when they are
all getting so powerful and can do virtually anything you ask of them. [Too
bad Fusion seems to have dropped the ball on ASP.Net.]
Good Luck!
Felix
