NOF Layout funnies
HI Folks
One of my new sites is loosely based on one of the NOF templates,
from the cut-price template selection.
While I'm generally happy with the look of it -
there are some 'funnies'
Particularly - what's showing in the page design layout is very
different from what Firefox / Explorer can see - there's a lot more
whitespace at the end of paragraphs....
Any ideas what's going wrong ?
Being a bit of a dinosaur, I'd normally adopt a simpler structure for
the pages - but, as this was from a template, I went with it <g>
Any thoughts? - the sites's at
www.westcorkmarkets.com
Thanks

Hi Adrian,
I'm not certain, but I think you have the empty lines right in your code. If
you end a text area with more than a Line feed, e.g. para mark, and
especially if it's two or more, you'll get that to happen.
However, not seeing it in Preview is "interesting". I played with it
here and I do see it in NOF 11's Preview; no need to publish it or anything.
Assuming you have Preview set to use IE or FF, I don't know why it'd be that
way.
I do know that some code end-tags automatically get followed by a line feed,
but you seem to have several of them.
In viewing your source code, there are, for some reason, large blank
areas that coincide with where the extra space is on your display; Perhaps
if you deleted some of that empty space.
Is this NOF generated code, or user-entered code? I suspect the latter
because I've never seen NOF create code like that unless the user added
linefeeds to the text.
Maybe somone more guru-like will be along<g>; but thought I'd toss this out
at least as food for thought.

Didn't think I'd done a lot of that....

No - misunderstaning - it shows in Preview - just doesn't show in page
edit mode within NOF....

Nope! - all courtesy of NOF - haven't fiddled at all - honest ! <g>
As I say - it's from an NOF template - slightly adapted, but no
code-hacking...
To be honest, I'm not all that unhappy with the 'extra whitespace'
layout - just curious as to why it's ended up like that...
Thanks for your comments

Re: NOF Layout funnies
HI Andrew
Thanks for the comment.
I'd never seen this 'feature' before in NOF11 (or maybe never 'noticed'
it ?)
Are you saying that it's necessary to take out this errant style setting
each time you edit the page ? Sound like a hnightmare, if that's so...
As I say, I've not seen this before - maybe the only difference from
other sites I've worked on is that the layout to get the little grey
header boxes with the text on top is more complicated than I'd do myself
- but, since that was part of the template, I just adopted it...
Don't really want to have to re-set the style thing each time I edit -
but don't really want to rebuild the site either <g>
Thanks

You don't have to do it each time you edit the page. Once it's gone, it's
gone.

Re: NOF Layout funnies
Hi - Thanks....
(that's a relief! <g>)
I'll look into removing the 19px setting
