Site compatible with iPhones
Hi all,
This is a tough one and it really has me going. I need to make a site in
Fusion 11 that is compatible with both cell phones (iPhone in particular)
and note books, and desk tops as well. I also need to publish music videos
on some of the pages.
What is the best way to do this in fusion?
I much appreciate any help this group can afford me.
TIA,
Tim

Re: Site compatible with iPhones
....... or basically, how do you make a site cell phone compatible? Or is
there such a thing?
Thanks,
Tim

Re: Site compatible with iPhones
Simple... don't use Flash and design your pages for a 1024x768 screen.
That makes a site iPhone friendly.

Re: Site compatible with iPhones
Tim
NOF doesn't have any specific functions to do this, but there is advice
available on the internet that will help.
A couple of basics are consider using a liquid layout, consider XHTML
output (it may be more compatible), break your content into column
widths that can be read without scrolling / zooming on a small screen,
optimise images and, for maximum compatibility, avoid Flash and javascript.
If you decide to have 2 versions of your site, or a separate style sheet
for mobiles, give users the choice of which version they use. Personally
I hate it when google automatically redirects me to the mobile version
of their web site, so that I have to manually go to the regular version
every time - I find that the regular version of their site (and of many
others) is superior and, due to the zoom capability of my browser, just
as easy to use.

Re: Site compatible with iPhones
Hi Chuck,
That it?!? That's all there is to it? Hey, I can do that. Super!
How about QT movies, are they ok? or or is there something special I have to
do with those?
Thanks.

Re: Site compatible with iPhones
Hi Max,
Many thanks for your input.
Liquid layouts?, Hmmm, I've heard that term used somewhere else before,
I'll have to look up some tutorials on that.
Thanks,

Wow. I had wondered about this as well. Thanks for a great bit of info.
for a novice like myself.

Re: Site compatible with iPhones
Safari on the iPhone has no issues with JavaScript that I'm aware of.
Apple will probably never approve flash support for it.
Look for motion video through HTML 5 support in the browser.
It's the coming thing.

Re: Site compatible with iPhones
Another point to make along with HTML5 is that with the new Adobe Flash CS4
due soon, you'll be able to deploy your flash project onto the iPhone /
iTouch as a compiled native application.
