Default renaming index.html to home.html problem

    Hi All,

I am trying to set my index.html page to home.html from server type
'Advanced Button' - Home Page file name = Home (file ext .html). I did set
this in local and ftp accounts/settings.

BUT when I publish the website in a local folder and via FTP, it still
    remains as index.html.

    Any thoughts please?

    Regards

    David Magro

I discovered that if I preview the page it will show correctly ie:
    home.html!

It is something to do with publishing

    Thanks a lot

    David

    David,

A web server needs to be configured to recognize a page name as the index
    page for a site.

You just can't name it anything you want.

Yours may not know to recognize home.html as a valid index page name.

And why the heck do you want to change the index.html to home.html in the
    first place?

    Thanks for the reply.

Don't think I made myself clear.
Fusion lets you rename Home Page file name to index, default, home, custom
    html.
In preview it do the job but when I upload to my server or local folder it
    remains as index.html

    David,

Changing the name of the home page in Site View only changes it in Site
    View.

Setting the home page file name is done in Advanced Publish Settings for
    your publish profile.

At one time, the option was there because Windows servers defaulted to
    default.htm rather than index.html (the Unix/Linux convention).

But the question remains - why would you change it?

    Thanks Chuck,

My domain (mindseyedub.com) takes you to a flash intro (index.html) which
was done with another software this is followed with a ="musicplayerFrame"
    then autodirect to home.html.

    Thanks for your feedback.

    Regards

    David
