Background Image - horizontal repeat only
This has probably been covered many times, but I can't seem to find the
relevant answer, and my head is buried in integrating changes to 3 distinct,
but interconnected areas of this site at the moment.
I am using a tall skinny image for a background, oriented vertically, and is
placed in the style sheet. It is around 5 pixels wide and a couple thousand
pixels tall. The effect is to have a solid block across the top of the page,
and then a background color below that. When the browser window is wider
than the site, the background acts as extension of the banner to the entire
width of the browser window. Slightly exaggerated images attached, or you
can see the site at:
www.iccounting.ca
The problem occurs when you end up with a longer than expected page, the
background repeats, and in this case, a large black blob extends across the
screen.
So what are my options to prevent this repeating of the background image?
Is there a way to have the background image only repeat horizontally, and
not vertically?
Or maybe easier, since in this case, all I need is for the Top Master Border
section to be a solid color: can I specify a different a background color
for the top Master Border section and do away with the graphic altogether?
Or do I just create a .GIF that is 5 pixels wide and 3 miles long... :-\
Thanks

Re: Background Image - horizontal repeat only
Yep, there it is.
Thanks, Chuck. Very self-planetary. ;-)
Now I can get rid of all those 2000 pixel tall GIFs!
Cheers.
