    Default Hide E-Mail

    Hello,

I wish to hide my E-Mail address.

    This sounds good:
    http://www.maurits.vdschee.nl/php_hide_email/

But how do I use it with Netobjects Fusion 15?

    Thanks

You can use the standard html insert option to insert code.

See this gotFusion tutorial for details: http://www.gotfusion.com/tutorials/tut.cfm?itemID=4068

I've done a mailmunger tutorial insert if you want to take a look at that option.

This uses ascii encoding and javascript so it will work on any hosting platform.

    Hello gotfusion,

Thanks for your reply, but I am looking for a way to use the "php_hide_email" script with Fusion 15.
When I paste the 9 lines of script into my page head, I see the text of the script on the page when published.

    Thanks johnbav

The "nine lines of code" is a PHP function. Not to be pasted into your page header.

You can add it to the start of your page, but it has to be surrounded by <?php and ?>. And your page file extension must then be changed to .php.

The <?php echo hide_email('test@test.com'); ?> would then be inserted using a text box with Ctrl+T wherever you want the email address to appear on your page.

The page source, on a live web server, will then contain the span and javascript the function generates at that location on the page.

As Chuck has pointed out. PHP requires PHP which means a PHP enabled web server to see the parsed code.

Easiest way to do this is upload to your PHP coded page to a PHP enabled web server to view otherwise you will need to install a web server and PHP engine on your local computer to see it at home which is why I recommend javascript which can be viewed on a home computer and online on any web server even if PHP is not installed on it.

Is there a web server anywhere without PHP installed on it? Other than private servers, I mean. Surely every hosting company in the known universe installs PHP.

PHP will run under windows server as a service (typical install) not native as in a *nix environment.

I try to discourage my windows hosting customers from using PHP. If they need it and there is not a dot net or ColdFusion alternative I move them to one of my Red Hat boxes.

You will find very few hosts offering wordpress under windows hosting and those that do find what a PITA it is and move away from it rather quickly.

Sort of reminds me of the old Betamax VHS days.
