    Regarding system protection:
Mine uses AVG 7.5 Free Edition, ZoneAlarm Free and AOL's spyware scanner, on
    XP SP1
Just a suggestion - why not exchange template files, and check whether it's
the system or the website file? As far as the one I exported to 10 is
concerned, it's all on the web anyway, so I'm not giving away any secrets!
It's 6.5mb if anyone wants it by email.

    No anti-virus
    No anti-spyware
    Belkin router for a firewall

But these are just local publish attempts and page switches. Would
those things have any effect on a local publish to your hard drive?

    Norton Internet Security (antivirus,firewall etc)
Dual screen setup with nvidia 6600GT
    AMD Athlon XP 3000+ CPU
    1GB RAM
RAID setup with three 400GB SATA2-drives in striped mode, had same
    symptoms with regular IDE drives

Switching from site view to page view takes about 30 seconds
Clicking a textbox in order to edit its contents freezes NOF for about
30 seconds, after that no problems unless I switch to another page

Funny part is that CPU usage jumps to 100% but no changes in pagefile or
    harddrive usage

Possible solution to the slowness associated with NOF 10 ...

    I'm running NOF 10 on a machine with a 2G processor and 1G RAM, so I don't
    think it's a hardware bottleneck.

Therefore, this afternoon I tried *everything* suggested in this posted (and
then some). Nothing had any effect. Then, in desperation (exasperation?) I
decided to simply restart my computer. Guess what? NOF 10 is working like a
charm now! No slowness at all now. Don't know what happened. It just
    worked.... :-)
