I did have situations where I wanted to update a few pages and had no
    problems doing that...
thank you for your comment Kjp... appreciate it...

....then I made a lot of changes and thought the best way to handle it would
be to republish the "whole" site... I don't know enough about when to and
when not to republish as a whole... gosh I just got the darn manual printed
    out, close to 1000 pages!

    Default Re: Slow, slow, slow...

Sure that we have to republish all pages .

I have a site (working fine in nof9) "rebuilt" in Nof10 with 30pages
    (copypasted from excel)
and 7 or 8 "old nof9" pictures galleries and a new flash one...
    I verify/clean assets re optimize...
Export like a template rebuilt from this template...

    Still slow.

CopyPaste from Excel? Not sure that's the problem:
Since Nof9, we don't see "addon microsoft code" in the html after a copy.
And why wasting a lot of time to rebuilt the same work ...

56 pages (plus the galleries pages stacked) to publish...
    My first "entire site" publish?
After 30 minutes a lot of coffee cups and great desire to "smoke again"...
    I killed the process.

    Now,
    I always
    save the nod file,
    or publish pages
    FROM the site view.
Publish "one by one" or a little list but not the entire site.
No freeze (or like to), and 50% speed increase.
Sure that 's not the dream way, but that "works".

I also use an "external ftp soft" to upload files (totalcommander or ftp
    expert)

    Kjp

I'm actually able to follow a lot of what you said below. I've decided to
really try and learn some of this stuff even though my needs are small or
sort of one website oriented, maybe a couple as I do have a business in
    addition to my hobbies.

coffee... that's a given and I've taken it a step further I do smoke and
with what's been happening the last few days I'm doing it more at the
    computer.

I've opened a tech ticket with nof and we'll see how far they want to
help... The first ticket I tried they basically said I can't do what I want
to do the way I'm doing it... they sent me off on what I think is a goose
chase as far as I'm concerned trying to get me to use some other thing which
after reading through that are in the manual it just didn't look like the
right stuff... something to do with this...

"Copy/paste it's not the most recommended procedure in cases like this one.
Please try to use the data list or the external data source components.
    Thank you."

The quote is exactly what was offerred.

While folks are using cutting and pasting from what I can see... maybe I'm
just taking to an extreme or something...

I have been publishing a page at a time and you're right this sort of works
    for me too... for now...
I understand the ftp thing a little but they warn you in the manual on page
846 (nof10) about transferring html and assets from one location to
another... I'm still worming my way through this 1000 page manual... pretty
dry read. I mean it not like a novel or something...
I feel like Johnny Numonic in the movie...

I am making progress though and appreciate the help being offered me.

    thanks folks!
    regards
    john kajfes

Yes, that is also why I am here shopping for answers. I have 9 and 10
running side by side and 9 is snappy and 10 is taking 3 minutes for each and
every thing I do. I have a brand new Intel Dual Core Duo and it is acting
like an old 386 on this software. I am looking at th eprocessor and it
    swamps constantly.

Mine is acting more like a 1088 than a 386.

I never get too excited about bugs in new versions because I know most
of them will get fixed eventually. I'm sure this slow motion problem
will get fixed eventually too because if it didn't there would never
    be a version 11.

What puzzles me the most is how this situation got through beta
testing without it being discovered. It appears to be so widespread
it's just hard to imagine it was not caught. If I was on the testing
team I could have told them in 10 minutes that there was a serious
    problem buried in there somewhere.

I remember a you bute super version that came out that wouldn't even display
a garden variety JPG image when it was released!
Seams beancounters release this stuff finished or not to generate quick
revenue to satisfy investors. They work on the simple Garage Sale principle
"people buy SHIT!" The same beanhead beancounters that can't even get other
countries currency to match the US dollar and don't even know that New
Zealand is a separate country to Australia and has it's OWN currency. . If
they were serious and professional they would have a DEMO like every one
else!.....Think about it.... how many S/W companies don't offer a demo?
