Default Adding Text over a video

This may be one for Anton(!)
Just playing around with a full width video (MP4) on a page. How do I add a Text message (maybe scrolling up), without buying expensive software(!)
I tried Videopad but although it seemed straightforward to do I couldn't get it to work.

    thanks

I use EDIUS but as you suggest, it costs

I am not sure what the free ones have to offer

I use DaVinci Resolve; there's a free version available for download from www.blackmagic.com. There's also a higher featured professional version which isn't too expensive. Best yet, it's available for both Mac and windows whereas Edius is only available on the windows platform. Also Edius don't have any pricing on their web site; personally, I shy away from anyone who's not prepared to make their prices public.

EDIUS is not sold direct by grassvalley.com but by their distributors

there is also a fully functional 30 day trial, and if you like it, you can buy the serial and then enter it in the License Manager before the 30 days are over and the trial will then be the full version

    EDIUS8 Pro $725 Australian Dollar
    EDIUS8 Workgroup $1495 (what I use)
anyone buying it now will get EDIUS9 free in a few weeks when released

Franco, I think that you meant this URL:

    https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/pro...avinciresolve/

Resolve looked very comprehensive, but kept crashing - no response from support.
Finally got it working with Videopad - with a quick response to an issue I had.
