Default "Damaged Objects Have Been Removd"

On eight occasions over the past four months I have been working on one of
my web sites and suddenly I will get a screen message saying that damaged
items have been removed. After this message all of the objects on the pages
I try to edit are gone. After several days of waiting for a response from
tech support I was asked only if I had installed the newest upgrade yet.
There was no explanation about what would cause this and if it was a problem
in a particular version. The problem first appeared while use V9 and has
happened three times in V10. After searching the online help service I
found an article that tells you to recreate the master border and then
rebuild the site. Sometimes some of the objects reappear after rebuilding
the Master Borders, other times they do not. There seems to be no way of
guessing what will show up again, sometimes text blocks do but images and
    tables seldom do.

I would like to know if anyone else has seen this issue and if so have you
been given a solution? I tried to ask about using the backups created by
the program but tech support would never answer my question. I have tried
to import the backups but have never managed to get them to work correctly.
It is most disturbing that there is no way as far as I can see to turn off
the program without it over writing the current nod file and then saving the
    damaged site.

This most recent instance happened when I changed the background color of
the primary banner. I have one site with 135+ pages and I have had to
rebuild that one twice now. Luckily the problem the other night was with a
smaller and as of yet unpublished site. I managed to cut and paste from the
html pages saved in the preview directory and was able to get things back a
    little faster.

I have also noticed a small change to the published site since this problem
first occurred in V10. There is now a small rectangular box in the upper
left hand corner of the main page, it does not show up on any other pages.
I also asked about this and never received an answer. The box does not show
in the edit screen and I can see nothing that would indicate an object in
the corner but does show up in the preview pane. This mystery item can be
seen at the top left of the opening page on Thurmont.com. You will see that
the small box will appear first followed by the master border objects. Has
anyone seen this on any of their published sites?

I am also disappointed in the direction tech service has taken. Twice I
have submitted questions to tech support and the tickets never show up. I
for one would be willing to pay to speak to a tech support person, but not
the ones I have had email contact with! After using NOF and purchasing all
the upgrades for several years I would like to think that product loyalty
would at least earn some sort of support consideration.

I have this problem all the time since the latest update NOF9. Especially
    when I change styles.
I just try to workaround it: save and close the site all the time, so I
always have up-to-date backups. I don't understand why you rebuild your
    sites, NOF creates backups automatically.

I have tried repeatedly in v9 to use the backups but they never worked. I
renamed the existing nod file and copied the backup to the correct directory
but always the site was still corrupted. I have asked tech support about
this but have never gotten a response.

In version 10 I have tried to make the automatic backup work but I can not
get past the versioning repository item in the setup. I have created the
repository directory on the site and pointed the repository to the directory
but it always tells me it can not connect to the versioning manager. The
help file is not very helpful in this respect. I just found out that when
upgrading to version 10 I should have reset the backup directory manually,
again this is something that the help file does not cover. As a matter of
fact, the upgrade process is not very well explained any where in the
documentation as far as I can see. I am going to try tech support again to
see about setting up the versioning manager, but the response usually stops
at the first question, have you installed the latest upgrade.

Also, I have noticed that the dictionary is not working in the new version,
that is words I have added before are now showing up as mispelled again.. I
remember having to manually move the custom dictionary file a version a few
back. Buit I can not locate anything that looks like a custom dictionary
    file.

Any assistance or suggestions in setting up the versioning or fixing the
    dictionary issue would be appreciated.

In ths case you should not use the latest backup. That one might also be
corrupted. Try the one prior to the latest backup.

Weird - I'd just read your post and exactly the same thing happened to me. I
was able to recover by copying and pasting the affected pages from a backup
in the recovery folder. The only thing that was any differernt was that I
opened my site after working on another site. Since starting with NOF10 I
have always opened a site directly from the start page and closed down
afterwards. I realise that this shouldn't make any difference but you never
    know.
