HTML5 vs 4.01 with tables

Hi All. We're in the process of creating sites in 2015 using templates from NOF9. These sites are magazines: heavy text&graphics driven with no intricate stuff (carousel or overlapping, etc.) Lots of little adjustment problems, but that's to be expected. Which would you advise for us to set output: HTML5 or 4.01?

HTML 5 Dynamic which is the modern equivalent of the old HTML 4.01 with tables.
