    Default #1 pet peeve.....

    Hey.....

I have been a fusion user forever......
Here is my #1 pet peeve...........

When I use the "Export as Template" command....I sometimes get this message
"unable to create complete template... the following assets are missing"

Well, sometimes they are not missing and sometimes they are.

I would like an option to create the template with missing assets......

My thought is a template with a few missing assets is MUCH BETTER that no
    template at all.....

I use DreamWeaver sometimes just to avoid this problem......

    Thanks for your time!!!

Just had to get this off my chest!!

The export template feature is like a site backup, it will take all your
stuff as of the time you do the export and save it. So, the verify assets is
there to ensure that you have a complet and full backup. Nothing is worse
than trying to create recreate a site after a HD failure without a template.
Also, if the asset has moved from it's orginal location it will produce this
message so you need to point it to its new location.

Why export a template with known problems...why not just fix it.

Well I got a message saying the missing asset was (dialog with all the
fields blank) - makes it hard to fix
(I fixed a couple of real issues and then it stoppped telling me about the
    imaginary ones).

    Ken,

Haven't had the pleasure of getting that dialog box with the fields
empty.....but I do know that a similar occurrence has been reported to
    support.

Sometimes you can fix that by creating a dummy asset with that name and
pointing the dialog to it. Once NOF has gotten the idea, you can usually
delete the dummy asset without further issue.

    I'm back.been really busy....
I have read all the comments and I think we are getting to the point....
I have setup a site with (really) missing assets see attachment.

When I get the Missing Assets Box some or all of the of the assets have
addresses that are to long for the dialog box..so I'm not sure what asset is
missing....if I could expand the box so I could read the full address that
    would really help....

Then I could remove the asset and re-insert or what ever to make it work...

All of this is time comsuming and frustrating for me...

So would really like the option to save template with missing
assets...............then I could go back when I have some extra time and
    investigate the prob..

    Thanks for all you comments.....

I have a few sites that use external files - Same problem. It won't allow
me to create a template. Personally, I don't even know why it considers
these external files assets in the first place.
