    Default slow with versioning

    hi
I have a site that I was publishing to my web space, no problem had
versioning switched on, when I tried to do a local publish it takes about 20
seconds before the publish site menu comes up, when I switched off
versioning, the menu comes up immediately. could this be a bug that could be
leading to the reports of NOF10 being slow.

My understanding of versioning is that the files required to run versioning
reside on your hosting site, which makes sense because it means that more
than one person can maintain a site on different systems. With versioning
turned on, it is logical that NOF goes off to your site via the internet and
performs whatever checks on the versioning info it needs to do. I suspect it
also does this for a local publish as well.which is why, like you, we have
    also seen this dwell time.

Then again I could be going completely down the wrong path. It just seems to
    make sense.
