Nof 11 - 5 Questions like "how to do this"
Hi everyone
just working on my site, but I have 5 Question like "how to do this"
(Sorry for bad english)
1.) Tranparenz - just creating a small gif via photoshop (a small ball) with
a transparent backgroun´d. When using this in Nof 11 Design page, all seems
ok. Just the ball without the white parts around it. But when looking in
"Vorschau" (german version) preview there are the white parts around the
ball
2.)Java applet - to insert the code it´s easy (just a text box- properties -
insert the html code) but there a .class file also. Where to do this? How to
publish this?
3.) Site - I have a page with pictures and photos. When chanhing the site
representation from "normal" to " fixed layout" I´m able to set some
pictures on pictures. But now is the menue on the left side, when going with
mouse on it (folding menue) also behind the pictures and the text. How to
set the menue that its it in foreground ever?
4.) Menue - the menue comes with buttons inside a box. How to set the box
transparent (so the buttons are flying on the background picture)
5.) I´m searching for a free "wheather programm" (like the wheather program
in vista) which will display the wheather on a special place (here in
germany)
many questions, i know, but I´m veery happy about some answers on that
many greetings from stormy and rainy Hamburg/Germany

Re: Nof 11 - 5 Questions like "how to do this"
Can't help with all, but from my (limited!) understanding, here's my
shot at it - there are many wiser contributors than me on the group!
1) Are you allowing NOF to optimise your graphics? If so, it may be
removing the transparency from your GIF. Better to get your graphics
soretd in the external program.
2) Sorry, no idea about this at all... except... doesn't the applet
explicitly load the .class file itself? In which case, you have to make
sure that the class file is uploaded to the server, possibly manually.
3) I think there have been many discussions on this kind of thing. The
thing seems to be to avoid using fixed layout at all, since it is not
good for cross-browser compatability. If you need images to overlap,
maybe you should make a montage in an external editor? Alternatively, if
you need all of the images (e.g. you switch between them), maybe
something like Highslide (http://vikjavev.no/highslide/) might work for you?
4) You'd need to assign a transparent GIF as the button graphic (but see
comment 2) above). You can play with the button spacing (Navigation Bar
Properties, Button Style tab) to move your buttons apart as well.
5) Try the Google weather API
(http://www.google.com/ig/api?weather=<your location here>). It returns
an XML, if you're using v11 you could scope it as a data source.
Hope these get you started!
Regards from a suddenly sunny Bristol/England!
Derek.
