    The BEST Statement EVER!!!

"Remember, it's not the tools, it's the builder."

    Props!

Great comments...all... couldn't agree more. Here are just a few "out of the
    box sites":

    http://nancyblum.com/
annoying navigation and taking over the browser

    http://www.terrygamble.com/index.htm
    effective, unusual use of background

    http://serenaheslop.com/index.html
maybe you wouldn't call this out of the box, but here's someone who's really
used their creativity to communiate about their business in a very engaging
way. It's not visually stunning but it gets your attention and makes you
    want to meet her.

Excellent examples - that is what I was talking about - creativity in
design verses the "centered square boxes with menus on left and bottom".
The web is beginning to look like it was designed by one person. I
know the reasons for it but I, for one, want to figure out ways to get
    "out of the box."
I love those javascript floating menus. I have one good example on
    http://caught.net
It scrolls with you and is never lost. I am hoping I can integrate them
with my NOF sites. I say enough of the boxes, and these:
    [Home] [Page Two] [Page Three]
    have GOT to go.

Ali just turned me on to the most amazing design inspiration resource called
Web Design Index. It's an annual book release with CD and it chock full of
examples sorted by color or content. I could send you a ton of links of
out-of-the-box desings just from my first book. I'm in awe. The best part
is you can use the images provided to create quick mock-ups for clients.
Thanks to Ali for sharing this resource. The Web Design Index books are up
to number 6 with seven coming soon and are on amazon:

I just came across this link and HAD to share it as so VERY completely
    "out-of-the-box"!
An alternative to the page-by-page web model
Place all the information on one surface and to show the user how to
    navigate it.
